Five days after the Packers bowed out of the playoffs in frustrating fashion, Ed Donatell was fired as the team's defensive coordinator. Tight ends coach Jeff Jagodzinski was also let go. Story to come

OK, my Alcoa hat is on now - did Favre "throw" the game? Think about it - they ran well but he threw on vital short yardage plays repeatedly and missed. He bootlegged and was in the open field but fell one yard short prior to the big 4th and 1. He threw that pass nowhere near a receiver and into two Eagles. We know he can fix plays since the time he let Strahan get a sack record. The only problem is the defense had to be in on it on the 4th and forever play.

Well going long on the first down of the posession wasn't Favre's call. That was Sherman's and that wasn't the first time they done it, they got the first points of the game going long on the first play of the possession. Unfortunately the Eagle secondary had learned their lesson. If they hadn't suspected Sherman would try to end the game on the first play
(not necessarily a bad idea) Favre's throw is just a grossly overthrown waste of a down (what was that about 12 yards past the receiver). Unfortunately both the left side safety and corner had their thinking caps on and Favre didn't look down field. Such things are sport made of though, that's why we watch the game.

Well, call me conspiracy guy but I do think that game was fixed, as well as the Rams-Panthers game. I wish they wouldn't make it look so obvious.

You make good points and we gotta keep perspective. In a way, it is precisely his willingness to throw one up once in awhile that makes him so great. He can be signal caller on my football team anytime.

You are right. Watching Favre is much like watching Randall Cunningham. Anyone remember Cunninham's 95 yard punt from his own endzone against the Giants?

It's almost tough to believe but not everyone from Wisc. is a Packer fan. The place where I used to work at had a couple of Cowboys fans, a Lions fan, a Vikings fan and someone who liked the 'Niners. And everyone of those people had the same childish hatred for the Packers. But childish hatred is somwhat prevalent in all sports venues. It leads to a lot of "interesting" discussions in the workplace. But in the end it never affected workplace performance. No one took it personal. Most Packer fans go on with their daily lives after the season at some point. But living here in "Titletown" I have to admit that Green Bay without the Packers would be like Rhinelander on a Sunday night. Anyone from Wisconsin might understand what I'm talking about. ;-}

Sam Huff of Redskins Radio hates the Prevent Defense. He says - and I and nearly everyone who watches football - that it prevents victory. If your blitz's are working - and they were which is part of the reason McNabb got into 4th and 26 - then keep blitzing him.

The two 3rd and 3s in the 3rd quarter with out even having Green on the field are the ones that replay in my mind. Horrible play calling.

Wisconsin is dotted with Rhinelander's at about 80% of the state. When trying to explain Wisconsin to my relatives, I send them my copy of "Escanaba in Da Moonlight".

Pastys'........Yuck!

Remember Givens (Ernest I think) on the Oilers sliding to avoid a tackle causing Waters to go helmet to helmet.
Officials didn't throw a flag, but Dierdorf was apoplectic.
Waters got a $10K fine from the league. I swear it because of that pig Dierdorf. For Andre, that wasn't chump change.
And he could, as they say, 'bring the hat'.

A real hogie with capicolla, provolone, and salami which was hanging from the ceiling, nestled in a nice Amorosso roll is my version of heaven.

So you're saying you like that better than a Big Mac?

They will fly all right - until Peyton Manning picks their defense apart in the traditional one sided Super Bowl

A - Favre would never throw a game, he was raised within the game and if his father even suspected Brett of contemplating throwing a game he'd come back to life and kill his son
B - This is the 21st century NFL, QBs very rarely call their own plays, those decisions to throw on vital short yardage plays were all Sherman's can't blame Favre

Actually, the one who makes the calls on offense is Tom Rossley. It was his head that a lot of people have been calling for not just this year but last year as well.

Yep! Remember it well.

Anyone tip-toeing into the Eagles backfield when Waters was around had fear running down their legs and an emptied bladder.

He was a genius at run stuffing. He gave Riggins fits.

Favre is overrated too I think.

Don't group me in with your line of thinking. My comment was not at all about Favre.

but he is not the awesome QB the media makes him out.

I may question his judgment from time to time, but his stats rank him with the all time greats. He will be in the hall of fame ..... without any help from NFL affirmative action.

Yep, guys that make brilliant completions into double and triple coverage are also guys that throw "what was he thinking" interceptions. Because the only difference between the former play and the later play is who caught the ball.

Pasty's YUCK? I am a pasty SNOB. There are great ones and there are terrible ones. You'd love my mom's recipe. Hers are by far the best. She uses a "secret" ingredient which makes them totally unique from any other.

Horrible play calling

No doubt....I'm starting to get that pit in my stomach again! I'd have rather had the players come out flat resulting in a rout. I will always believe the better team went home to the offseason after that one.

jaugust....How ya doin'?? I've spent Saturday nite in both towns. At least the beer is always cold!

All the best,

Lando
