Rush Since Hiatus
Posted on 12/10/2003 10:51:46 AM PST by Allen In Texas Hill Country
I have listened to Rush since the days of the dog in the New York subway and even before that. Something has changed in his demeanor. I find myself toying with the idea of not listening to him anymore. Not really, but again something has changed. Maybe a little bit or more than a little bit. Just heard a caller refer to him as a 'new' Rush. Am I whining?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Rush "put on" laugh
He is now claiming they are all seminar callers. I think another trip to a different hospital for the rising paranoia may be in order.

It happens to the best of people.I disagree. Addicts are into the drug for the high, which is not something "the best of people" do. If he had addressed his addiction in a timely fashion he might have case for defending his character. But he didn't. Like countless other "celebrity addicts" he had to be caught before he saw the light and found Jesus.
Heraclitus tells us "a man's character is his fate." This conservative will take Heraclitus' understanding of personal responsibility over Bill W.'s (and apparently yours and Rush Limbaugh's) "disease concept" of addiction any day.

You probably noticed before Rush did. He just blew his stack about seminar callers. Of course the libs are out to get him and would launch a blitz on his show. They are vultures....smelling blood in the water...sensing a wounded animal....they think he's vulnerable. hee hee
I don't pay attention to the small stuff. On the big money issues, Rush has always, and continues to, be able to zero in on an angle I didn't see. He's brilliant, and overcoming an addiction problem hasn't changed that.

I agree with you. There seems to be sour grapes by some. Rush is his old self. I love it. The Dems hate it. I love it even more.

With all due respect, I find your attitude judgmental; I suspect you're speaking from a perspective of complete ignorance; and mercy is sorely lacking. If you don't like Rush, turn him off.

More frequent debased language usage than before, much harsher, somewhat hostile, and even bitter. He tells us he's more "himself" now, and I have no reason not to believe that. Amen to that.

We have bigger fish to fry, and getting upset about the use of one word is kind of crazy.... But it's not one word, is it? It's several. And whence this idea to be sincere, dedicated, mindful, interesting and determined one must resort to vulgarities? If it's just as easy to say a "colorful" word as it is to say the "polite" words why not just say the polite word?
Alas, today it would seem that this is called "censorship", or "hypersensitivity" or "prudery". In another time it was called "Good manners."

Please, please may I listen to him a bit longer.
Sheesh.

"Much of his anger is justified. I think he thought he was an insider. He was having dinner with important people, famous people, etc. I think he found out the hard way that 99.9% the people he though twere his friends were nothing of the sort. It is a hard lesson to learn at any age.
He is a little bitter but I think with time it will fade."
I think you may have touched on it. He seems a bit edgier. I know, what should I expect given what he has gone thru. But this Dan's Bake Sale attendee would like just a bit more lightness. He gets any harsher and I'll start calling him Rush "Dr. Laura" Limbaugh!!! :<)))

That's OK, Don't listen. Rush has 20 million other people to listen to him!

My sister says the same thing.
I had gotten to the point where I wasn't listening much anymore and when I was it was because I felt like I needed a pep talk. So, yes, I do miss the optimism. The ordinary people doing extraordinary things mantra.
He has to work thru this rehab thing. I have had a close friend go throug rehab (a couple of times, we aren't friends anymore suffice to say). They all sound kind of like this when they get out, as far as I can tell.
