Rush Since Hiatus

Posted on 12/10/2003 10:51:46 AM PST by Allen In Texas Hill Country

I have listened to Rush since the days of the dog in the New York subway and even before that. Something has changed in his demeanor. I find myself toying with the idea of not listening to him anymore. Not really, but again something has changed. Maybe a little bit or more than a little bit. Just heard a caller refer to him as a 'new' Rush. Am I whining?

I agree, good for him....but to what consequence? These same Republicans always can ignore Rush because they know that when push comes to shove he will always support them at election time. The only sanction a politician fears is lost votes and Rush will never threaten that. Thus....his criticism is toothless.

Agree with them all you like. The Rush Limbaugh show is not a children's show and children cannot understand complex concepts of politics. Why do you think so many young people are eager to go along with the "Bush is an idiot" campaign? It is because it is the "popular" thing to do and the majority of young people do not want to use reason to refute that statement.

Furthermore, if you can't take a simple word like testicle in a mature manner, then maybe something along the lines of sponge bob square pannts is more your speed.

Monique Junot: He keeps putting his testicles all over me.
Lane Myer: Excuse me?
Monique Junot: You know, like octopus? Testicles?
Lane Myer: Ohhhh. Tentacles. N-T.

There is no such thing as a politician who can ignore criticism on such a large network. Most pols are extremely thin skinned.

I'm curious, he's made no mention of his wife Marta since he got back, or, if he has, I didn't hear it. Could it be there's a little marital trouble in paradise?

Much of his anger is justified. I think he thought he was an insider. He was having dinner with important people, famous people, etc. I think he found out the hard way that 99.9% the people he though twere his friends were nothing of the sort. It is a hard lesson to learn at any age.

He is a little bitter but I think with time it will fade.

You really shouldn't listen to him anymore.

He doesn't need you.

Could you be a little more specific?

Well, my 2.5 year old calls it his "bag" and, yes, he dreamt that up without any help from us. LOL

Bump!

I just sent him 2 email rockets extolling the 2 ladies that called and criticized his increasing crudity. I asked him that if his mother were still alive, how would she react to his "potty mouth"?

It is obvious that he has fallen for the "psychobabble" visited upon him during his recent stint at the hospital. I'm very familiar with the routine that the psychogists follow, and his embracing of it is classic...and very misguided.

If I were he, considering his recent bout with drugs, I would be squeaky clean in my presentations. He seems to be doing exactly the opposite. He should not leave himself open to such easy critism.

He's just about lost me as a listener, which I have been since he started.

And another thing, I'm getting really tired of his "put on" laugh.

I've only listened to Rush a handful of times, so I suppose I'm not the most qualified or entitled to address his listeners. But I will say that it makes perfect sense that you notice a change in him. After all, recent events have exposed him as a hypocrite, all the exhortations to the contrary on FR notwithstanding. When a man is exposed as a hypocrite before the whole world, it's only natural that his self-confidence be deeply shaken, and that the face he has always presented to his fellows take on a unfamiliar expression.

I really don't think Limbaugh can survive as a popular radio host.

I DO NOT ALLOW MY CHILDREN TO USE THE WORDS HE HAS BEEN USING.

Does this mean you are Rush's mom? If not, what's your point?

Maybe you are just out of sync with Rush's "cycles". I've turned him off for months at a time, myself.

Or, it could be he hasn't gotten over his month of indoctrination. There was a recent thread on an article by an alcoholic about "12 Step programs" filling a spiritual need.

The author found that "cultural spiritualness" lacking, so he opted to go back to his own religion and stay sober.

If it works for those in "the program" I suppose its okay to a point. Rush's preachy-ness was getting on my nerves too, but so do a lot of other talk shows.

I don't have children.
"Testicles" is not an obscene word.
Why do we need to make up a word for them?
If we do make up another word for them, does that make it any less objectionable to you?

After all, we are still talking about the same thing, right? Are we objecting to the word, or testicles in general?
