The Gist
Scarlett Johansson made an appearance at the London Film Festival screening of Ray Gunn on October 10.
She wore a bold red strapless dress that revealed her floral back tattoos.
Johansson is one of the voice actors in the new film.
Scarlett Johansson’s latest look may be the perfect red carpet ensemble—but it also feels pretty personal. The actress appeared at a screening of the film Ray Gunn at the London Film Festival on October 10, where she wore a scarlet red dress that showed off her meaningful back tattoos.
The 41-year-old actress posed on the red carpet in a bright red strapless dress by Hermès. It featured a gathered bust and a sculptural ballooning midiskirt—as well as pockets! She paired the simple dress with matching red-hot strappy sandal heels and a gold pendant collar necklace. Meanwhile, she wore her blunt blonde bob in simple waves and a center part.
The rose-red dress showed off the actress’s large back tattoos—which incidentally feature a row of roses on a vine along with a sweet lamb. According to HuffPost, the tattoo is a nod to her daughter Rose Dauriac, whom she shares with ex-husband Romain Dauriac. She also shares son Cosmo with husband Colin Jost.
Back in 2013, Johansson was asked about how many tattoos she has. “I’ve lost count,” she replied.

Stupid. God blesses her with beautiful skin and she tats it up. I don’t remember anyone getting tats when I was younger. Anyone. I spent summers at Ocean City beaches. No tats
Maybe I’ll live long enough to witness the fashion trend is having no tattoos.
Back in my youth, the only folks with tattoos were criminals and military.
“Scarlett Johansson shows off her dramatic back tattoos in a red-hot strapless dress”
How creative!
Remember the movie “Tattoo”? It was about a criminal who defaced a beautiful woman by drugging her and marking her body with a huge tattoo. I wonder if people would even get that today.
Aside from the ugliness of her gun control views, here’s another reason to run from her: https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/4351448/posts
Fr. Chad Ripperger stands out among critics. A member of the Fraternal Society of Saint Peter (FSSP) and a well-known exorcist, he’s vocal about tattoos in his lectures. He argues they violate natural law by altering the body unnecessarily, calling them a form of mutilation. Religious tattoos, he says, are “the worst,” as they misuse sacred symbols in a sinful context. He’s even claimed modern tattoo ink might be “cursed,” linking it to demonic influence (Sensus Fidelium). On X, followers amplify this, with posts from March 27, 2025, citing his view that “Jesus and Mary are not meant to be inked on our arms.”
Stupid at a minimum.
There seems to be even more tatted and hairy freaks walking around more than ever.
I’m hardly a male model or leading man type looking type on screen but I have standards.
Not even colorful. Better drawn than prison tattoos, but about the same color.
What gets me is all the young people that could invest in a long term IRA rather than spend on a tattoo. Young women must think it will help them get laid but getting laid is really not a problem for them.
The tattoos are trashy.
What I don’t get is the trendy hair “style”, which is no style at all. Jump out of bed and you’re ready to go.
Maybe I’m just jealous remembering my years of hair dryers, curling irons, using orange juice cans for rollers (when o.j. cans were not cardboard) and sleeping on them, and the time it took to get it all together in the morning before work.
Now ... don’t do anything and you’re good to go.
She needs a septum ring. In for a penny, in for a pound.
When a 5-year old uses a sharpie to draw a swastika on his arm, you scold him for it and try to scrub it off with comet cleanser (or let it fade naturally), and write it off to immaturity.
When and adult pays hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars to have a professional mutilator put random permanent markings on their skin, IT’S SOMEHOW ‘COOL?’
But tattoo parlors DO perform an important public service.
They indelibly mark the idiots so the rest of us might know them on sight. It’s a YUGE time-saver.
I believe in one of the first five books of the Bible there is the prohibition against allowing a tatoo on the body.
I guess she felt she wasn’t getting enough attention.
A while back some film moguls teen daughter showed up at some do or other with a giant dragon tattoo that started on her right lower leg, went up curling around her torso and terminated high on her back left shoulder. When stories like this come along I remember her and wonder how she feels about that tat now…
I love the braided look. Like a Vikingr.
Tats are a major turn off.
No woman was ever made more attractive by getting a tattoo.
“To me a woman showing a tattoo is like putting a mustache on the Mona Lisa.”
Excellent way to put it. I agree.
However, tattooing is used in breast reconstruction after breast cancer surgery, so I’m OK with that application. ;)
I don’t have any ‘professional’ tattoos, just the homemade prison tatts me and my Homegirls were sporting back in the day. (JUST KIDDING!)
I don’t plan on getting any; professional or homemade. ;)
Ladies, by and large tattoos are men repellent. Most women in history have known this. Have a great life.
