Democratic candidates to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY): Thanks, but no thanks.
A number of swing-state Democrats have been telling AOC to “stay away,” according to a Sunday report from Axios, which said candidates are worried about the New York progressive sabotaging their chances of winning.
“The polling is atrocious for her,” a top Democratic strategist told the outlet. “She’s a lightening rod.”
Even Dems who previously welcomed Ocasio-Cortez to campaign on their behalf are now trying to keep her away. House candidate Sam Forstag (D) “suggested” he didn’t want AOC to campaign for him in Montana, only months after she flew to the state to stump for him in the rain, according to the report.
“I don’t intend to be having a lot of folks from out of state campaigning with me over these next 40 days,” he told Axios when asked about AOC coming back to help him some more.
He even scrubbed AOC’s endorsement from his website, just to be extra safe.
Sunday’s report comes after AOC has endorsed several candidates heading into the November midterms, including Senate hopefuls Abdul El-Sayed (D) in Michigan and socialist Angie Nixon (D) in Florida.
Ocasio-Cortez has attempted to walk back some of her more controversial stances in recent months, like when she shrugged off endorsing abolishing prisons and defunding the police by declaring “Woke 1 was crazy!”
She explained to ABC’s Jonathan Karl the Covid-19 lockdowns made everyone a bit kooky and willing to humor extreme ideas — but those shouldn’t be held against Democratic candidates in 2026, she said.
As for the midterms, Cook Political Report founder Charlie Cook declared on Sunday it was a “done deal” — the Dems are going to take back the House. Cook projected the Democrats will gain 20 seats in the House and could possibly flip the Senate as well during an interview on ABC’s This Week.
He said his bullish prediction was based mostly on voters being upset with President Donald Trump, rather than being attracted to what Democrats are offering.
“It isn’t pro-Democrat,” Cook said. “It’s anti-Trump, basically, and Republicans that have been supportive of the president.”
Swing-state Dems sound like they want to keep the focus on the president, and not AOC, heading into the elections.
Stupid is losing it’s shine?
Gee, I hope AOC’s ego is big enough to push right on ahead to those swing states.
“New York progressive” - well, I guess that is one way to refer to her (among many others).
They have more things to worry about than AOC.

It is not a good sign when the IRGC shifts from “Death to America” to “Vote Democratic.” The IRGC is reportedly encouraging Americans to vote against the GOP in the midterms.
This really surprises me. I thought AOC was a media darling and widely loved among the left. Part of that assumption is that I find her to be stupid and obnoxious, just the mix that the left loves.
Now she’ll stamp her feet and have a tantrum ,LOL
If there are 20-30 seats changing, how can their main voice be anything but help? Cook has been wrong more than right.
And yet the POS enemedia insists this retarded, horse-faced, pariah is the unbeatable Demonic Party 2028 presidential candidate...
It lost it’s shine some time ago. Wouldn’t want AOC even visiting my state for any reason; political or not.
So she’s political poison, is she?
Lee Atwater would have tied her to every Democrat on the ballot, just as he tied Willi Horton to George Dukakis:
“Atwater famously declared he would ‘strip the bark off the little bastard’ and ‘make Willie Horton his running mate,’ which helped overcome Dukakis’s 17-point lead in early polls, contributing to George H. W. Bush’s landslide victory.”
As for Atwater’s contrition: “Atwater was telling a story about how a Living Bible was what was giving him faith...Mary Matalin said: ‘When we were cleaning up his things afterwards, the Bible was still wrapped in the cellophane and had never been taken out of the package, which just told you everything there was. He was spinning right to the end.’”
Much to our amusement...
“folks from out of state campaigning with me”
True for both R & D. AOC is not on the ballot. Trump is not on the ballot. Everytime AOC or Trump or some national figure steals the spotlight from the local candidate it hurts the local candidate.
Just as 1+2=3 for both R & D, so certain axioms of political winning apply to both sides. The goal is to get votes for the candidate.... votes for the non-candidate are a diversion.
Me too. I thought she was their leading candidate for the 2028 election.
The socialist bartender is a MODERATE compared to the commie newcomers. Even the Maine nazi still has fans.
You go girl, nothing can stop you now...
