FIRST ON FOX: Republicans are moving to block a political newcomer linked to Democrats who shares the name of Alaska's incumbent senator, arguing the candidate's long-shot bid could mislead voters in a closely watched Senate race.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) sent a letter Monday to the Alaska Division of Elections and the state's lieutenant governor, demanding that "Dan J. Sullivan" — a former teacher with no relation to incumbent Republican Sen. Dan S. Sullivan — be struck from the ballot ahead of the August primary.
"Alaska regulations provide that a candidate’s name may not appear on the ballot in a manner that is ‘confusing or misleading to voters or compromises the fairness or neutrality of the ballot,’" the NRSC wrote in the letter. "You must uphold your statutory obligation to enforce those regulations and protect the principles they safeguard by keeping Sham Candidate Sullivan off the ballot."
Spokespersons for Lt. Gov. Nancy Dahlstrom, R-Alaska, and Director of Elections Carol Beecher did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Are people in Alaska too dumb to know the difference between a Republican and a Democrat on a ballot?
Well, they were dumb enough to approve ranked choice voting, then dumb enough to reject an effort to repeal it, so…
It does not appear that Dan J. Sullivan is using a fictitious name or has changed his name recently.
With that being the case, there does not seem to be a law that bans persons with the name “Dan J. Sullivan” from seeking office.
I dunno, they keep electing Rino Murkowski...........
Most people simply aren't paying attention.
“Dan Sullivan - The Name You Know”
Leftists are stealing plot lines from Eddie Murphy movies from 30 years ago
“There are several questions about the challenger’s campaign.
Alaska Division of Elections records showed Friday afternoon that Dan J. Sullivan, a Republican from Petersburg, is among the more than a dozen U.S. Senate candidates who filed the necessary paperwork to appear on the Aug. 18 primary ballot.
However, records with the Federal Elections Commission on Friday showed no evidence that a second Dan Sullivan had filed to run in the race.
The footer in Petersburg Sullivan’s emailed statement and a website say they are paid for by “Sullivan for Alaska.”
But there is no such committee registered with the Federal Elections Commission...
“Mary Peltola and Chuck Schumer know they can’t beat Senator Sullivan on his record, so they’re resorting to deceitful political maneuvers that attempt to trick Alaskans and buy a seat,” said Nick Puglia, regional press secretary for the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
Asked if the Peltola campaign was “involved in asking, encouraging or soliciting” Petersburg Sullivan to run, Peltola campaign spokesperson Harry Child said, “no.”
The metadata for the press release on Petersburg Sullivan’s entry to the race indicated it was written by someone by the name of “Amber Lee.”
Amber Lee, an Alaska political strategist, has worked for a variety of campaigns in recent years and backed Peltola in the past. Asked if she was involved in Petersburg Sullivan’s apparent entry into the Senate race, Lee said in a text message that she is “not commenting.”
Nate Adams, spokesperson for Sullivan’s campaign, also declined to comment.”
Cannot speak to the law, but it is wrong (if not illegal).
Are people in Alaska too dumb to know the difference between a Republican and a Democrat on a ballot?
Both are running as Republicans.
It doesn’t matter - Alaska uses a Rank Choice Voting system which allows your vote to be moved from candidate to candidate until the ‘correct’ result is achieved. This ‘result’ is usually a democRAT victory.
RCV and mail-in ballots (allowed for special conditions only) must be made illegal.
The Kennedys and Fitzgeralds used that trick in 1946 to put JFK into Congress. That probably wasn’t the first time it was used either.
The GOP ran Michelle Bachman in MN thinking voters would believe she was part of the “Bachman Florist” business in Minneapolis.
They believed it.
Half the Dem voters are fake, so why not fake candidates?
Pretty smart wouldn’t you say?
You are correct!
I read an extensive article about the Kennedy Family history in Readers Digest many years ago, which covered this incident.
The father Joe Kennedy paid a plumber with the same name to run as JFK's opponent in his first congressional election. The plumber's middle initial was slightly different from the JFK's actual opponent.
This trick confused the electorate and split the vote, ensuring JFK victory. Democrats have been stealing elections for 100 years or more using tricks like this.
Such facts will sorely oppress the JFK worshippers on this site!
Just when you couldn’t hate leftist filth any more than you already do along comes something like this nefarious play.
Way up North
North to Alaska
Way up North
North to Alaska
North to Alaska
I’m leaving North
The voters are dumb…
