The Democratic Party has a deeply motivated base and a clear advantage on the generic congressional ballot ahead of this fall’s midterms despite dismal impressions of its current leaders in Congress, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS.
Democratic registered voters are far more motivated right now than Republicans. While the party has a 5-point edge on the generic ballot, among those who say they’re deeply motivated to vote, that advantage expands to a massive 16 points.
Democrats enter this year with a chance to capitalize on public dissatisfaction with President Donald Trump and the Republican-controlled government in Washington. CNN’s poll found a majority of Americans consider the first year of Trump’s second term to be a failure, with just 29% of independents approving of his job performance.
The generic congressional ballot measures which of the two major parties voters would rather support in an upcoming election. While it does not capture how voters may ultimately respond to the candidates whose names appear in their district, the generic ballot can be an early indicator of which party holds the upper hand nationwide.
In 2018, when Democrats won back the US House in Trump’s first term, Democrats had a similar 5-point edge among registered voters at around the same point in the year. In 2022, when Republicans won a narrow majority during former President Joe Biden’s administration, voters were about evenly split between the two parties.

In 1917, in Russia the Bolsheviks had support of 2% of the population. They achieved power because they had access to to societal ‘choke points’.
I’d be motivated,too, if I had billions in fraud I wanted to continue to steal or cover up. I would want my gravy to keep flowing.
Not to give them any advice but Dems would be smart to say nothing and hope they just get Anti-Trump votes. All their ideas are terrible and unpopular with the general public.
How many of these motivated democrats are illegals?

The midterms are just that. Trump will still be their President.
They need the protests and demonstrations to generate hype and register voters.
Midterms are so much more than that. An unending series of hyper partisan impeachment hearings, stalling and freezing out the presidents agenda. Changes to the warpowers act, ect.
There’s a lot of damage the democrats can do if they win even one house. They’re an insurrectionist party.
DemocRATS are hoping to gain majority in midterms and impeach and remove Trump from the office. He is thorn in their agenda.
The only thing they can do is to impeach Trump. They can pass a bunch of bills in the House but it's unlikely that the Senate will even consider them. Even if they get passed, Trump will veto and they will not have the numbers to overturn his veto.
Impeaching Trump only will make him stronger. The Democrats have pretty much said they will not impeach this time.
I think they're in a trap. Schumer is not stupid. He's a seasoned politician.
AOC, Omar, others will demand Trump to be impeached. Schumer is not going to be able to ignore them. AOC may run against Schumer in 2028.

NC just flipped RED for the first time ever, capping a five year shift of 180,000! (Among active voters, Rs lead by over 100,000 now in NC).
FL now has an R lead over Ds of 1.4 MILLION. Remember the good ol’ days when FL was a blue state? As in 2020??
PA, which was D+1.1 MILLION in 2016, is now D+171,000 and falling, but in active voters . . . Rs lead.
AZ has seen the state go from R+100,000 in 2020 to R+324,000. Seth Keshel shows that EVERY. SINGLE. COUNTY. (including deep blue Pima) has moved to the right.
Rs now lead in NV, a shift of about 20,000 since 2024’s election.
NH has moved from R+5 to R+6. something. IA Rs have gained a full point.
And on and on. This is occuring in every single state. So it doesn’t matter how motivated an increasingly small minority is.
NC always voted red in federal elections even though they've been teasing the Democratic Party for the past 20 years.
I think PA is going to be a bigger thing here. Fetterman is talking about how PA is changing and how much support Trump is getting in his state.
