94% of Middle Class Will Get Tax Cuts [semi-satire]
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 28 December 2025 | John Semmens

Posted on 12/27/2025 7:01:37 AM PST by John Semmens

Recently appointed Chief Executive Officer of the federal Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Frank Bisignano predicted that "94% of taxpayers will see tax reductions from President Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill' legislation. Many families will receive annual income tax reductions in the $10,000 to $20,000 range. Social Security recipients will see annual net increases in benefits ranging up to $6,000 due to the legislation's elimination of taxes on benefits."

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt) called these tax reductions "inherently unfair. Only the richest 50% of Americans pay income taxes. Those too poor to pay these taxes and those on welfare will get no benefit from the tax cuts Trump and the Republicans forced through Congress. The sector of society hardest hit by these changes will be the immigrants who are ineligible for welfare benefits because they entered the country illegally. Thankfully, this injustice won't be permanent. The majority of the population that doesn't pay taxes will elect a Democrat majority to Congress next November. We will repeal the tax cuts and restore the welfare benefits to the robust levels that democratic socialists have always supported."

In related news, the tax cuts enacted by the Republican majority in Congress helped spark a 4.3% increase in America's Gross Domestic Product for the July-September quarter. Sanders also objected to this development, saying "further enrichment of those earning an income or investing in businesses only adds to the inequality that capitalism propagates. We will also reverse this inequity and restore the kind of equality only socialism can deliver after Democrats win the 2026 elections."

But not the 1% who pay 50% of taxes. Or the 10% who pay 90% of all taxes.

Shove it, Burnie. Shove it often, shove it hard, you completely useless Obamahole.

Wouldn't surprise me if he actually said this.

I'll be told (again) by lefties in my family and former workplace that "only the rich, Trump and his rich friends, will get tax cuts."

"You won't."

And, clear evidence from my tax return will not change their minds.

This sums up how the Democrats see Americans:

We will repeal the tax cuts and restore the welfare benefits to the robust levels that democratic socialists have always supported."

Gone are the days when you were responsible for your own life.

Well, we did a late file so we could save up to pay our taxes last year(2024). And we ain’t rich. No investments or other exceptions. Gig money from playing in a band and retirement/SS. Yeah, I’d welcome a tax cut. So, burn-knee sanders, you and your 3 homes can STFU!

Meanwhile, the idiots in California are putting billionaire tax on the ballot in 2026. If it passes, it will be retroactive starting January 1, 2026.

just for grins, i did a what-if scenario with 2025 H&R Block Tax software, using the exact same numbers i used for my 2024 Federal tax return, and our taxes would be $1,700 LESS in 2025 than in 2024, proof positive that the OBBB reduced taxes for lots of regular folks ...

for any here who do there own taxes, it’s instructive to do the same thing, regardless of which tax software one uses ...

I feel your pain, this year , luckily I realized it about a month ago and need to pay an estimated tax before Dec 31. We aren’t rich by any means. We also aren’t 65, so the social security tax cuts are meaningless to us.

In an interesting quirk of the tax law, 2025 will be the first tax year where I had NO withholding of any kind. I had to base my 1040-ES amounts solely on my 2024 tax obligation. (On the other hand, no FICA payment is due.) So, in four months, I’ll be able to directly measure the effect of Trump’s tax reductions. I’m 72, and live just on SSA and investments.

I am retired, so I no longer have to associate with people for whom this statement makes sense.

IIRC the IRS doesn’t have the forms yet for the changes so it could be interesting. We both took our SS as soon as it was available. Mrs rktman started hers in June 2025. At 62. You just don’t know if you’ll live long enough to get it so......
I’ve been getting mine for 14 years now. :)

Happy New Year

Too bad Bernie chooses not to exhibit some common sense. The tax cuts aren’t for you. It’s other people’s turn now. If you have so little that you haven’t been paying taxes already you don’t need a tax cut. Plus you’re very likely to already qualify for food stamps, housing assistance, and other such welfare-type programs. What more could you possibly want? Egg in your beer?

Gas $2.45 and $2.49 per gallon in Atlanta suburbs. It was over $4.29 under Biden.

That’s more benefit to those who drive to work than any tax cut.

But they keep redefining the various classes and most of the middle class is gone.

1861: The first federal income tax was imposed as part of the Revenue Act of 1861 to help fund the Civil War effort. It was a flat 3% tax on incomes over $800. This is AI, but I’d be willing to go back to that tax-rate.
