Russia has issued a call for the remaining Ukrainian soldiers that have been surrounded in Pakovsk and Kian to surrender, noting that they have no chance of survival. And it doesn't seem as though the NATO alliance or Kiev is too concerned about the situation on the front lines as they seem more concerned about Zalinsk's latest photo op. not realizing the importance of some of these final Ukrainian strongholds and just how quickly Kiev's defensive lines are crumbling. So, what does all of this mean for the ongoing conflict and how could the possibility of tomahawks being introduced by the US change things?

The majority wanted the war to end. That is how the Bolsheviks hit majority support

Thanks for the input. Ukraine really needs to make a deal, things are getting very bad along the front and the longer it goes on, the worse any deal gets. Ukrainians are now dying for their crooked rulers, not their country.

Ok, that is Muscowite propaganda.

I know Ukrainians who are fighting and they are not doing it for zelensky. They are fighting because Moscow wants to eliminate their country by grabbing slice by slice Ukrainian land.

Putin proved this in 2022. After he had grabbed Crimea and the Donbas in 2014 he came back for more like the KGB bandit he is

Peak Russian occupation (mid-2022): Russia controlled ~22–25% of Ukraine (including pre-2022 holdings like Crimea and parts of Donbas).

That doesn't, in anyway, negate the point I made -- since November of 2022, Russia has been gaining territory. It's more than three years since Ukraine "took" any territory back.

For more than two years, the primary Russian goal has been destroy the Ukrainian military, not take territory.

The only territory left that Russia wanted going into the war is what is left of Donetsk that isn't under Russian control.

Ukraine did take territory back.

It's been more THREE YEARS since Ukraine took any territory back.

And, the Ukrainian military has been fed into a meat grinder ever since.

Ukraine absolutely has no capability now of taking any territory back. It's running out of manpower. What about that don't you understand?

You have lot a nerve. You and your fellow Zeepers constantly been wrong about the wrong the war and Ukraine's ability to win it.

And, I'm wrong because Russia isn't winning fast enough? You're a moron with Russian Derangement Syndrome.

Would you like to make a bet to a future Freep-a-thon on the following:

1) Ukraine will not take an inch of territory back over the remainder of this war.

2) That the war will end with Russia possessing every inch of land it now possesses and/or more than it possesses at the present time.

If both come to pass, you Polish moron, I am the one that has been right about this war and you've been wrong about it.

The longer Ukraine fights the more land it will lose, though Russia only wants the areas with Russian speakers that can form a buffer from NATO. NATO sitting right on Russia’s eastern and western border was a pipe dream that was never going to happen. I understand Ukraine’s wishes but they can’t force them alone and NATO is a paper tiger out of ammo and not about to send several hundred thousand troops. If the USA went to war right now we would run out of ammo in two weeks.

“1) Ukraine will not take an inch of territory back over the remainder of this war.”

Technically speaking, they take bits and pieces temporarily by Russian “invitation” all the time. Russia falls back, invites Ukraine into a death zone, then clobbers them and takes it back. Overall, Russia is taking land, but they are probably close to what they want by now. They will control the sea access also, already do, given some reports. They skipped all the defenses and secured an open corridor at the other end which they will control. That was done without firing a shot.

Yes, Ukraine is unlikely to be a country when this over. Those brave soldiers are dying uselessly for an ideal.

Note Tulsi has declared Putin will not seek to take Europe.

And there’s another powerful situation — he won’t seek to take all of Ukraine either, because Ukraine has accumulated huge debt. A pro Russia govt in Kiev would still owe that money.

There is no such thing as a sovereign bankruptcy court. There are no sovereign defaults. There are only agreements with creditors. Nothing else expunges the money.

So optimally, Putin will take vast expanses of Ukraine land and leave Kiev and maybe some small amounts in the west — to still owe all that money. As long as he has everything west of Dnipro, the Caspian oil fields are safe.

He will keep the power plant and . . . Odessa is a question mark. But be all that as it may be, have no doubt that the enormous accumulated Ukraine debt is not something Russia wants to assume.

I'm sure the Russians will want all of Donetsk.

If Ukraine won't concede territory and the EU keeps the war going, the Russians may take everything east of the Dnieper river and Odessa.

I’m seeing that opinion going around and of all the places Russia could take, it seems like those two would make sense for Russian security, which is the entire point of this conflict as far as Russia is concerned.

Not really. They lost the Constituent Assembly elections and dispersed the delegates. They were just a small minority but the best organized and determined.

On the contrary, thanks to Putin’s 2022, Ukraine will definitely be a country with a strong sense of identity.

Before 2014 the Ukrainian sense of identity was close yo non existent. It was local identities that ruled.

After 2014 it was lukewarm.

After Putin’s Feb 2022 invasion the Ukrainians have a strong sense of identity and a common foe.

Ukrainians will keep fighting because Russia’s invasion has United them

You’ve been saying that since 2022 February.

Before that you were saying Russia would not invade.

Then it was that Ukraine would surrender in 2 weeks and lose its coastline and east if the Dnieper.

Then by October 2022, the Russians were kicked out of Kharkiv and kherson.
