In a future conflict with China, technological superiority alone will not be enough; “mass matters.” The vast distances of the Indo-Pacific and the limitations of sea-launched airpower create a critical need for a large, land-based fleet of long-range, 6th-generation F-47 fighters. A substantial number of F-47s would be essential to overwhelm enemy defenses, deliver the necessary volume of ordnance, and create a resilient, networked force capable of shortening the sensor-to-shooter timeline. Without a large F-47 fleet, the U.S. risks being unable to effectively project power and prevail in a great-power conflict.

naaa we need 1 million drones.
Again, can we afford not to?
Doubtful we’ll get to the swords into plowshares stage before it’s too late.
AVIATION Ping!..................
We could make a million drones fairly easily and inexpensively.
Also, we could produce a million ‘dummy’ drones to overwhelm the air defenses of the enemy. Millions of drones that do nothing but become targets for their anti aircraft missiles..........
I thought at first they were talking about the B-47 Stratojet.
We should be worried about having enough air to air missiles for the platforms we have now.
What is the cost of losing a war? Not just walking away like in Vietnam or Afghanistan, but losing, having to give up territory, financially crushed like the Germans via the Versailles treaty or worse yet unconditional surrender and occupation?
We are not fighting China under any imaginable circumstances, stop worrying about it.
Ha! The NSJ strikes again with another 500 billion dollar project for Raytheon
So did I. Kind of a scary moment.
Who is paying you?
Why risk Boeing at this point.
And, let’s face it, they are talking about preparing for a 20th Century war. We don’t need hundreds of fighters, we need thousands of smart drones.
Is this “National Security Journal” funded by Boeing?
They always seem to be pimping Boeing products.
Again with the negative waves.
Why don’t you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don’t you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
What's stopping them from asymmetrically fighting us?
The only way a war with China ends is with ICBMs going both ways.
The US government will have to buy a stake in Boeing right...
“ Again, can we afford it?
Again, can we afford not to?”

Nixon once said words to the effect of, “No one knows the exact amount that we should spend on defense, so we’re always going to spend either too little or too much. Between the two, the far safer course is to spend too much )without getting carried away).”
I would rather have 400 or 500 F-47s, together with about 2,000 - 2,500 of its drones, than to have too few to take on China reliably andvthus tempt them into starting something that could easily spin out of control into EMP strikes and use of nukes, things that would destroy civilization.
