Catholics Frantically Google New Pope To See If He's Catholic

WORLD — With the announcement of the election of Pope Leo XIV, Catholics around the globe were reportedly frantically googling the new pontiff to find out if he's Catholic.

Cardinal Robert F. Prevost, originally from Chicago, Illinois, became the first American to be selected to serve as Pope, leading devout members of the church to quickly look up his background to find out if he was also the first Catholic to serve in the position in over a decade.

"It'll be a great chance of pace if he is," said lifelong Catholic Dave Battaglia. "Throwing in some variety every now and then is fine, but it would be nice to have a Catholic guy in charge of the Catholic Church for at least a little while. I need to find out more about this Leo guy to see if he's at least been to mass before."

If Leo XIV is, in fact, Catholic, he would return the church to its once-longstanding tradition of having popes who were Catholic. "You never know these days," said Lisa Ganapini, another devout Catholic. "You'd think that there's a decent chance that he's a member of the faith, but as we've learned in recent years, you just never know. I guess we'll find out. I hope he's, like, read the Bible or something, too."

At publishing time, progressives around the world were reportedly disappointed that the Catholic Church had once again missed the opportunity to elect the first female pope.

Well, yes. But the last pope was not worth what a bear dropped in the woods.

I think he will not come after TLM like Francis. Just my gut feeling.

BREAKING: American-born Cardinal Robert Prevost has been selected as the next Pope, a total surprise.

Prevost is the first American pontiff in the 2,000-year history of the Catholic Church.

Prevost was born in Chicago and spent much of his career ministering in Peru.

Prevost, 69, has taken the name Leo XIV.

As usual the Bee is right on track. And it is not only Catholics who are wondering if the new pope is Catholic. Everyone at FR seems to be doing the same. :-)

The Bee is really on top of things. The name of the new Pope was only announced less than an hour ago.

I think it is going to be safer not to use the old adage; “Is the Pope Catholic?” Because the answer is probably going to be no, not really.

Cardinal Prevost (now Leo XIV) was head of the office that selected Bishops across the world (Dicastery for Bishops)

The closest analogy may be like choosing the head of HR to be CEO of large corporation, or the HR/appointments office of very large centralized political bureaucracies, like the Organization Dept of Soviet or Chinese Communist Party, or the Head of the Republican National Committee

Given he’s relatively unknown, someone promoted by Francis, and his previous work, perhaps he was a compromise candidate and something of a bureaucrat.

We shall see.

The question may have to be changed to “Is a bear Catholic? Does the Pope cr*p in the woods?”

Staying ever relevant.

Joe Biden had to withdraw his name from consideration, after failing the debate before the conclave was finally convened.

Probably not too far from the truth, honestly.

The answer is kinda. But maybe even less than Francis, however, matybe a little less confrontational. Except in his tweets about his opposition to Trump and Vance.

Abject Disaster. But, keep heart.
Prevost is from Chicago. He’s a disaster. He is hated by his Augustinian confreres. He covered up for child sex abusers. He’s a raging leftist, and is in the ODIOUS Cupich’s pocket.

It’s not going to get better. It’s probably going to get worse.

Now, I’m going to pray before the Tabernacle. Jesus is still there! 😇🙏

He seems humble, which is a welcome change from the ragging egotist Francis.
