Justice Redefines Democracy [semi-satire]
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 4 May 2025 | John Semmens

This week, Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson condemned criticism of judges who have slapped injunctions on most of the Trump Administration's efforts to implement the policies supported by voters who elected him to be president, calling this criticism "a direct threat to our democracy."

"Judges are the 'philosopher kings' envisioned by Plato's Republic and installed by our Founding Persons as the ultimate authority for determining what laws are allowed in Article III of the US Constitution," she asserted in a speech to a conference of judges in Puerto Rico. "Unlike the other branches of government, the judiciary is only one comprised of the nation's foremost legal experts. Every judge has a law degree. Most of those elevated to the Supreme Court have degrees from the elite law schools. No one else who participates in our government is as well prepared to rule this nation."

"While many members of Congress also have law degrees, many others do not," she pointed out. "The most recent US Presidents to have law degrees have all been Democrats--Biden, Obama, and Clinton. Trump does not have a law degree. I maintain that his lack of a proper education in the law renders him unqualified to challenge the rulings made against his tyrannical policies by the judges who have had that education."

"The intent of those who drafted our Constitution clearly indicates where ultimate authority was meant to lie," she contended. "The terms of members of Congress are short. Representatives are elected for two years at a time. Senators are elected for six. Presidents are are elected for four years and limited to two term. In contrast, judges are appointed for life. They are entrusted with the power to sentence people to prison or execution. No other member of government is entrusted with such awesome authority. This is something that President Trump should give some serious thought to before he attempts to disobey the decisions made by judges."

The judges attending the conference gave the Justice a standing ovation for her remarks. US Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) praised her speech, calling her reasoning "irrefutable. I hope that Trump recognizes that his presence in the White House is only temporary. Once the logic of her speech is truly comprehended by Congress I believe a majority of both Parties will unite against his campaign to usurp the permanent governing authority from the courts. When Republicans make this clear to Trump I hope, for his sake, that he resumes an appropriate subservient role before he has to be impeached and imprisoned."

In related news, Schumer took great pleasure in announcing that the SAVE Act (legislation that would require proof of citizenship to register to vote) "will never get the 60 votes needed to pass. Now that the citizenship issue has been disposed of the ten million immigrants we let in during President Biden's term will be providing the votes our Party needs to take back the presidency and both Houses of Congress within the next four years, reopen the borders, and bring in enough new voters to ensure a permanent Democrat majority for at least the next millennium."

I’m actually stunned they are openly admitting it.

I’m thinking 1776 here….

“ Now that the citizenship issue has been disposed of the ten million immigrants we let in during President Biden’s term will be providing the votes our Party needs to take back the presidency and both Houses of Congress within the next four years, reopen the borders, and bring in enough new voters to ensure a permanent Democrat majority for at least the next millennium.”

She is not wrong, actually. In reality, regardless of our thoughts on what the constitution or laws say, the ultimate decisions of what’s legal or not, in all aspects of our lives, are NOT decided by what’s written. It is decided by the interpretation of what’s written by those 9 people. We even call them Justices.

Perfectly reflects the ‘holier than thou’ attitude of many undereducated, overschooled college graduates I know.
So many, nowadays, have a degree, but not much intelligence, and even less common sense, but think and act as if they’re superior in every way.

Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson is a DEI hire, selected in large part for her socialist tendencies.

Bafflement wins every time. It is impossible to divine the thought processes of most people over on the left-of-center and WAY-left-of-center, as they are not strong on logic at arriving at their conclusions and forming their opinions.

Socialism, the hallmark of the kind of mental gymnastics of those who aspire to the “comfort” of a command-and-control governance, is a Siren call to those who try to negotiate the narrow strait between Scylla, represented by the rocky shoal, and Charybdis, represented by the swift current and undertow of a whirlpool. With any form of socialism, your are stuck between a rock and a hard place, either to be ground to pieces in the chaos of unending and unresolved conflict, or to be drawn into a militaristic society. Those are the only two outcomes in a post-socialist regime.

Emotionally, socialism seems to promise the end to want, conflict and onerous responsibilities, but it has NEVER delivered on any of these vague objectives.

I thought Robert Heinlein was on the right track with "Starship Troopers" (the book), where the militaristic society stressed merit and service over non-contributing parasites like this DEI idiot who shouldn't even judge county fairs to determine blue ribbon winners.
