Yes, there are corrupt sheriffs. But by and large, they are the most trusted folks in the law enforcement community. I suppose being elected as much to do with that.

Anyway, many sheriff departments have a volunteer posse unit, or a sheriff’s reserve unit. Such units are now mostly ceremonial. But perhaps they’ll more active in the future.

This is about our country being under attack, what actions he is asking the State of Ohio to take, recognizing our Northern Border is wide open coming across the lakes, and how their own offices have been cyberattacked and about the drones.

And that the FBI, the Federal government knows all this...and we are on our own.

There are bad sheriffs. Just as there are bad dentists and bad plumbers. But sheriffs are usually the most trusted folks in law enforcement. And they might well be the folks who form the last defense against all this insanity.
