Owning a hairless cat or dog may seem unconventional to some, but it comes with several notable benefits. One significant advantage is the reduced allergenic potential associated with these animals. Unlike their furry counterparts, hairless cats and dogs produce fewer allergens, as their skin does not shed dander. This makes them suitable companions for individuals who suffer from allergies or asthma. Furthermore, the absence of fur greatly minimizes shedding, which significantly reduces the amount of pet hair around the house and decreases the frequency of vacuuming and cleaning needed to maintain a tidy living space. Additionally, because hairless pets lack fur, they are less prone to developing mats or tangles in their coats, making grooming sessions less time-consuming and more manageable. Lastly, owning a hairless cat or dog can be a unique conversation starter and source of intrigue among friends and family due to their distinctive appearance.
Overall, despite being unconventional choices for pets, hairless cats and dogs provide numerous benefits that make them an appealing option for many individuals seeking loyal companionship without the inconveniences commonly associated with pet ownership.
Ewww, there’s a reason God put fur on them.
Humans are weird. Humans inbreed features that they like because they think that it is “cute” and you end up with animals that have serious health problems or wouldn’t survive long in the wild without assistance from humans.
“Hairless dogs” and “Hairless cats”
Sounds more like a euphemism than a pet.
We have two cats (not hairless). It never ceases to amaze me how much hair I pull out if the carpet when I vacuum. Having said that, I would never own a hairless cat. Nothing against them, they just give me the creeps…
Cats are cool!
Daughter animal sat for a friend once
Said the hairless sphinx cat left little butt-pucker marks on the coffee table
Gross
But a great alternative for someone with allergies. 😺
The dogs look much better than the cats...
The dogs look much better than the cats; but some of the cats are intriguing (the Sphinx looks like a little old person who lived an interesting life...)
fleas and ticks less of a problem...
I have a Smooth Coat Grand Champion Chihuahua showing in the dog show ring now. The Breed standard calls for either a smooth coat or long coat Chihuahua. They have to have hair!! It doesn’t allow for hairless Chihuahuas in the standard. If people are breeding them, it certainly isn’t accepted among reputable breeds and would be highly frowned upon. Nor would it be accepted or registered by the American Kennel Club as there is no line item for a hairless Chihuahua.
WHERE CAN I GET A Xoloitzcuintli??? (dog #1)
He looks like such a good boy!!
Good luck, I hope you win!!
Cat panties.
They are a Mexican Hairless dog.
It is pronounced SHO LO
Sometimes they have a little hair on the top of their head.
They were recognized by the AKC a few years ago. I have seen one in the last 20 years of attending dog shows. It was being shown by a Mexican Dog handler named Jose.
