The US is still on the path to becoming a 'fascist country': sociologist [Frances Fox Piven]

A veteran sociologist and activist has warned that the US is still on the path to becoming a fascist country.

In an interview with The Guardian published on Thursday, Frances Fox Piven — an academic once targeted and threatened by far-right figures — warned that Americans should not get complacent after the midterms, where a widely-anticipated red wave for the Republican Party failed to materialize. The GOP, though, did take control of the House.

"I don't think this fight over elemental democracy is over, by any means," Piven told The Guardian. "The United States was well on the road to becoming a fascist country – and it still can become a fascist country."

The idea that America could come under fascist rule has been discussed, sometimes with reference to former President Donald Trump. For instance, former Trump lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen warned in October that Trump is a standard bearer for corrupt dictator wannabes" and a "poster boy for fascism."

Piven is not the only academic who has predicted a fascist tilt to American politics in the future.

In January, noted political scientist Thomas Homer-Dixon warned that American democracy could collapse if Trump wins in 2024. In an op-ed in The Globe and Mail, Homer-Dixon, who describes himself as a "scholar of violent conflict," warned that the US is becoming "increasingly ungovernable." He also predicted that the US could "descend into civil war" if it continues on its current path.

While the 2022 election results mean the Democratic Party retains control of the Senate, Piven cautioned that there are many things still in place that might lead America down the path to fascism.

The left never wants to own their part in that transformation. .

The Commies are always seeing fascists under the bed, when it’s really just their own reflection.

I would like some of the “right-wing” fascism this guy is talking about. You know, like the not wearing a mask, no forced vaccinations, reduced government spending and forced queer culture. I like that “fascism”

When a proven lifelong anti-American “intellectual” facing down the grim reaper speaks, ... exactly who is it that is supposed to listen?

OTOH, cretins like Piven always accuse their enemies of their own faults, misdeeds, nefarious plans.

So it’s probably good if at least someone listens.

Piven is the 2nd half of the “Cloward-Piven Strategy” authors, a couple of quack academics who described in detail methods to bankrupt the US in order to effect a socialist/fascist takeover. This was back in the 1960s.

Her theory was, that simple welfare programs (for example) weren’t enough. Therefore, the idea was to get as many people to sign up for any such program in order to overwhelm and bankrupt these halfway measures. In this way, true socialism (or whatever Utopia these stupid wenches envision) can then blossom.

The left wrings its hands about fascism while they whole-heartedly practice it. Personal freedom is the only legitimate antidote.

Smaller less intrusive govt. Lower taxation. Greater individual Liberty. Strict adherence to the Constitution. Yep sounds like fascism to me.

People say this so to justify their election fraud. They are saving America from itself by stuffing ballot boxes.

Can’t be fascist without being socialist.

I see the same blindness and stupidity among leftist friends and colleagues all the time. They love a huge, interventionist, central-planning government which promises everything from universal basic income to climate "justice."

Then they are surprised when they see everything from big money in politics to corporate cronyism to endless wars to vax mandates

The Twitter Dumps show America is a full-blown fascist country.

But there is an incredibly large poll coming out from Mark Nuttle showing the American people have had a hard swing to the right. I’ve heard some high-level results and they are going to be astounding.

If democracy is so all-important to these people, why are they not raising hell about election fraud in all its forms? Without honest elections, democracy doesn’t exist.

The reason why socialists and fascists couldn’t get along was because of how alike they were. The fascist compromised socialist “principals” in hopes of getting what socialism promised. They never stopped believing in the trash that socialism ultimately is. Being sell outs made them worse than us capitalist.

As for the idiot communists, in selling out the fascist were at least able to realize just how moronic communism is, can only be, must only be.

The whole far right thing is just a consequence of where they say in certain legislatures.

Fascism, socialism, communism ... nowhere in that arc of turdology will you find the Founders and Framers.
