A few days ago I looked outside and spotted these two squirrels, Chip 'n' Dale, on my patio. Yeah, I know they are not chipmunks but what else was I going to call them? One interesting thing that I wasn't able to record is that they finally got used to me enough that in my second attempt to approach them without the window barrier, they allowed me to pick them up but they didn't seem crazy about the idea so I quickly put them back down. Finally they perform a rather surprising encore.
PING!
They look like babies or juveniles.
They’re all cute - until they bite you. I would never try to pick one up.
I keep feral cats around my house with some occasional food, to keep down the mice. Sometimes they are more domesticated than I like and I may have to pick one up just so that I can keep walking without stepping on them. They never “like” it though and I am quick to get rid of them rather than get scratched or bit.
I believe they are Eastern Gray squirrels.
They’re at my place too. Last week I cleaned out neighbor’s fridge (she’s in hosp) and put a pound of walnuts and peanuts near my patio, thinking to watch the big gathering. It was all gone before I got back from a half-hour errand.
Reminder to check the security cams, see who feasted.
I finally did off-camera but then I thought "rabies" and quickly put them down. Probably they don't have rabies but I have a 9 day Caribbean cruise coming up in a few days and didn't want to have to put it off due to being checked for rabies.
I appreciate the sentiment but I’m going to rain on your parade. Just wait until those cute little buggers are in your attic, chewing wires, setting your house on fire or chewing holes in your screened in porch, building nests in the soffits and raising families or as one FReeper reported, chewing wires beneath the hood of a vehicle making it inoperable. We are overrun with squirrels and there’s nothing cute about them. They are a menace.
Seems I am doomed to be annoyed - waiting for an Amazon order for pinwheels to be assembled and stuck in the ground to keep WOODPECKERS away from the house...another menace!
Every day at the same time they are busy in the same spot.
When I was out on my morning walk the other day a couple of squirrels were doing there mating routine and not paying a lot to me. I gave them a wide berth as I walked by and looked backed and I notice they were getting it on.
I have a feral cat who comes to mooch regularly. Incurably feral, been mooching for years and still hisses in horror if I get too close, which is necessary to put the handout on the porch floor. It did learn to meow politely after about a year, but only when I look like I don’t know why the mooch is there.
Pretty sure it never assaults other wildlife. Scared of its own shadow.
I have found that hanging a realistic Halloween-shop crow deters most birds.
Squirrels...death becomes them. Rodent of peace.
What I fed nuts, were actual Chips and Dales.
Don’t be fooled.
They are there to spy on you, Biden sent them .
Squirrels aren’t real
Yard rats. They entertain my dog.
I raised a baby squirrel when I was a kid. Bottle-fed him until he matured a bit. Very smart and lots of fun.
He used to go out in the day and play in the trees and come scratching at the screen door at dinner time.
Everything was fine until he met that slut who lived in the trees out back. He ran away with her to raise a family and left us in the rearview mirror.;-)
Thinking with his little head
Yep. He was a chip off the old block.
What else should you call them? Dinner is what we call them here.
Lol
