Good grief, we have a pet squirrel, raised him since before he opened his eyes. They only bite when they feel threatened and young ones like that won’t bit at all. Oh, and squirrels don’t carry rabies.
Vermin. A good squirrel is a dead squirrel, according to our huskies.
Psst! I already have a setup where my YouTube videos AUTOMATICALLY upload to Rumble. It takes up to a couple of hours but this video is already on my Rumble DUmmie FUnnies channel.
The left is trying to cancel us, its time we canceled them.
I need to maintain my YouTube channel because I have made contact with some members of Congress and Senate and alerted them to specific issues between YouTube and YouTube creators such as myself. Beyond that I can't comment any further until WINTER comes. Wink! Wink!
Really? Do I have a guarantee on that?
That's a bad idea. I'll never forget my teenage big brother screaming in pain and agony when a flying squirrel bit him. The squirrel had gotten into the house and when he tried to capture it in one of those old general store cookie jars with nickel sized holes in the metal lid, it was able to bite him through one of the holes and through the leather work gloves he was wearing. Because it was in the jar, he couldn't pull the varmint off either.
Okay but I was drinking heavily "fortified" soda but I still had enough sense to put the the second squirrel down fairly quickly so at least give me credit for that.
This CDC article seems to back that up
That makes sense to me. If rats carried rabies, think of how prevalent rabies would be.
I still can't get over for one eating squirrel as a kid wich makes them food, not play pals. And two they are actually rodents.
I know that is contradictory but fried squirrel tastes good a plate if you are mindful of the pellets. If you have never had squirrel dumplings you're missing out.
I know squirrels are vermin, and can do a lot of damage, but after doing battle with them, shooting them, trapping them, etc. I came to admire them.
Squirrels remind me of people in a way. Sometimes as smart as us. Sometimes as stupid as us. (especially when crossing roads)
Plus, I have heard that you can drop a squirrel out of an airplane, and it can still land and survive with no damage. I can believe this.
I have a vast tolerance for unusual food but the one time I suggested to my mother that I might try eating Capybara, she made me SWEAR I would NEVER eat that or any other rodent. To honor her memory, I will hold off on ever eating squirrels.
When I was a boy, friends of mine had an utterly tame rescued baby squirrel like that. When the family ate a meal, the squirrel joined in on cracked corn and peanuts served on a side table. Then lady love drew him back into the trees as an adult.
Thanks. Much better than the mess of the day we normally see.
Please be sure to feed them, they are probably orphans. Feeding them will not be a problem, squirrels are natural freeloaders and can still feed themselves. We fed Itchy and Scratchy and their mother for a few years until the momma quit showing up. The two others held on until we moved.
Ours would come to the window to tell us they needed food and come inside if we let them. They are wild of course and have fleas and such and claws and teeth that can make bad wounds so we avoided letting them climb on us.
Peanuts are good, we kept a bag of unsalted ones around all the time.
I have no doubt that would probably work. However, I had to resort to something that I could stick in the ground as there’s no way I could get anything that would have to be hung from roof line or anything high. Right now I can’t even get the pinwheels assembled properly so I’m not a happy camper...
Thanks...
Just to even out the conversion, my parents would take home rabbit road kill and eat it for supper. Nobody else's road kill mind you, but when we were driving back home especially a few hundred yards before the turnoff onto the old carriage lane to our farm and we hit a rabbit running across the road, more than once we took it home.
Adorable! I’ve never seen squirrels do that before. They look young — I’m assuming they are siblings. Were they *inside* your screened-in porch??
