This Time I Won’t Be Me, Person Who Plays Themselves in EVERY Movie They Are in Promises to Play Someone Else

"For some reason modern day Hollywood (AKA Hollyweird AKA Groomers R Us AKA We hate babies!) has become incredibly formulaic, with reboots, remakes and reimaginings ruling the day. Some also say there are too many comic book based movies, even though the stories are unique yet interconnected (think Marvel through Avengers End Game, except for the woke Black Panther and the woker Captain Marvel, rather than DC which has issues).

The other problem today is that the same actors are hired for every movie and never seem to play a different character, by choice or due to lack of ability. On any random day you might have guessed we were going to talk about Zach Galifianakis*, Jack Black, Rebel Wilson, Melissa McCarthy or DeadPool (whose most famous role is pretending to be Ryan Reynolds) among a raft of others who get cast over and over and play the same character (them) in every movie they ‘act’ in, and who to a person as of today have all refused to make the same promise as above. But today we focus on..."

Oddly enough I just recently realized that James Spader is a real actor.

He disappears into the part better then most.

Movies are not my thing but once I looked up his bio I found he had been in a bunch of things that I had seen and I had no idea.

Not because the roles were forgettable but because I never saw James Spader. I saw whoever he was portraying.

Bruce Willis starring as Bruce Willis’ character. He’s an actor from NY in case you didn’t know.

To fully appreciate Ryan Reynolds as an actor, watch him in Buried.

No CGI, creepy make up, zany one-liners, just a gut wrenching drama that will stay with you for weeks after. Brilliant piece of cinema with a tiny cast and the movie rests solely on his skill.

The Rock is overexposed and boring.

Joaquin Phoenix is outstanding.

Damn he was good in Joker. I never thought someone playing a comic book character would win Best Actor, but he sure deserved it.

Plus it was oddly satisfying to see Bob DeNiro get his.

I completely agree about Spader. Sometimes I’m watching the Black List and it hits me that this is the same guy who played Steff in Pretty in Pink back in ‘86. He has had such a long and varied career!

Outstanding. I seriously think it’s possibly the greatest role I’ve seen.

Spader is great! From Stargate to Blacklist.

... because I never saw James Spader.

Especially when he played Ultron in that Avengers movie...

That was a depressing movie. Robert Downey Jr. has acting abilities as well, but has been the same character since Iron Man.

He was pretty funny in "Back To School"

Johnny Depp plays unique characters.. Each one different with the exception of Captain Jack Sparrow..

Depp is pretty versatile.

Yes, he was. I thought Dangerfield’s son was miscast, as he will always be the creepy dude from Christine. But the rest of the cast was good, with nice cameos from Kurt Vonnegut and Oingo Boingo.

That’s what they’re paid to do. You don’t hire Jack Black or Dwayne Johnson if you don’t want to see Jack Black or Dwayne Johnson being Jack Black or Dwayne Johnson.
