Natalie and her uncle trying to shake off the Nazi who kept dogging them was nerve-wracking.

That book came out in 1928. The movie came out in 1930. An excellent film.

Martin Caidin wrote a book Everything but the Flak. It is about the restoration of the B-17s and flight to England to make the movie The War Lover. A good companion read to go along with the movie.

RAN is one of my faves. Happy to see more non-WWII films on your list.

"I just rewatched “Strategic Air Command” a couple weeks ago. It is excellent. It describes the sea change in the USA going from building forces to fight a war, then disbanding those forces to the Cold War where our defense forces are never demobilized."

For me it was also because it was filmed, and set, in Tampa, where until recently I had lived for 35 years. I've really gotten into classic aerospace over the past couple of years (ever watch the YT channel "Dark Skies"?). I think the F-35 is a big let-down, and it's a crime that we're not pushing out F-22's.

I bought the entire series of the 1950's TV show "Steve Canyon" (many of which are viewable on YT).

My all time favorite is “The Best Years of Our Lives”.

Followed by “Twelve O’Clock High”.

I am with you on having “Twelve O’Clock High” near the top.

Fantastic film.

I grew up on history and loved the military aspects of the city state and nation states as they formed. RAN has a cast of over 10,000 actors back in 1962. Cross of Iron and Hitler’s SS are essential movies from German directors.
