Number 9.
According to Fed Funds Futures data, The Federal Reserve is now forecasting 9 rate increases over the next year.
Fed Funds Futures are pointing to 8.924 rate hikes by the Fed FOMC meeting on February 1, 2023.
The US Treasury 10Y-2Y curve flattened by 5.5 bps today with the entire curve downshifting.
The Federal Reserve reminds me of The Office episode “Malone’s Cones.” They can’t really explain why they kept rates so low for so long (policy error) and seem to risk collapsing the market with rapid rate hikes without much sensible explanation.

Interest rates are rising. Refi now if you haven’t already.
My first mortgage in 1983 had an 11.5% rate.
I owned stocks in utilities during that era and was receiving 14% dividends. When FED chair brought inflation down, my utility stocks doubled and tripled. Now I am lucky to receive 0.1% dividends in money market funds.
yep I remember those high rates. I had 9.5% in 1986 with our home purchase. Later we refinanced and got 8% and were happy to see the drop in our monthly payment.
Rates are rising. I don’t know the history of mortgage interest rates. But, I recall my parents had a 5.5% interest rate on the family house bought in 1963. The impression I get is that these 2 and 3 percent rates we’ve seen in recent years have been historically low.

And now with similar economics “policies” the Puppetmeisters controlling Biden are creating yet another Great Depression. Wisely from their point of view, they’ve created a media diversion (plus personal profiteering opportunity) by provoking and stoking the flames of war in Europe
My stepdad and mom had $250.00 mortgage and 15% interest rate..Jimmy Carter days
