Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem, a Republican, “passed away unexpectedly” at age 68, his office said in a statement.
Reached on Saturday, a spokeswoman said the office had no further information to share at this time.
“We know Wayne was a widely respected and well-known public figure, but we ask that his family be allowed time to grieve in private,” the office said.
The brother of Stenehjem, who had been in office since 2000, told KFYR that the attorney general fell on Friday morning and was rushed to a hospital in an ambulance.
Allan Stenehjem, the brother, said his sibling had an ulcer. Inflammation from the ulcer may have caused the fall, Allan Stenehjem said.
Allan Stenehjem told the Bismarck Tribune that his brother didn’t have any serious health issues and that the death wasn’t related to COVID-19.
The attorney general in December 2021 said he wouldn’t seek reelection, citing a desire to spend more time with his family.
He also said he was in good health and was “not in any way hampered.”
North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, a Republican, directed all flags in the state to fly at half-staff in honor of the attorney general.

68 is not young. It’s not old either. A pathologist once told me every man over age 50 is a walking time bomb for that stuff. What happens if the sudden death of a senator in one party has a successor appointed by a governor from the other? Some states have taken care of that possibility. It’s too important these days. Ask Ruth Ginsberg.

When you hear those words ‘suddenly,’ ‘unexpectedly,’ you know the probable cause of death. These victims have little if any warning of stroke or heart attack. One minute they are fine the next they have passed. Sadly, these people were robbed of their life by the wicked, demonic experimenters. Many like my brother took the shot to continue to work in their profession, not believing that a simple shot could wreak such havoc on their body.

If “sudden” and “unexpected” are up 200-300% as a cause of death in the 20-70 age group, the use of the word “probable” accurately deals with your valid question. There is evidence out there to argue for this. I do not claim to know that the evidence is good, but it is worth considering.
Doing cost-benefit analysis with cr@ppy data is what should be done by free and intelligent individuals at the moment, and given the status of the data, I think there is room for disagreement, hopefully even disagreement without sarcasm, though given the current nature of the net that is perhaps too much to expect.
