I got the go-ahead from Microsoft that my Lenovo laptop can be upgraded to Windows 11. But every time I try, it gets to about 75% then stalls. I have tried about 10 times. Yes, I have turned off the firewall.
Any suggestions?
Get a Mac
Wait for 12
Get a hammer and maybe a few nails. See if that helps.
Why would you want to be a beta tester?
Wait until a bunch of other people have tried it, had issues that they report to MS and then MS starts fixing things.
Win 95
Win 95b
Win 98
Win 98 Second Edition
Win XP
Win XP Service pack two and then three
They always have bugs to fix for a while.
I heard on this version, you can run spreadsheets, and word processors, and even access the interwebs
When I tried to upgrade to 10 it did much the same thing. A couple of months later it installed smoothly.
Unless you have some reason to upgrade right now just let other people work out the bugs.
I generally don’t update to a new operating system on old hardware.
People have to be the testers.
Unless you absolutely need WinBlows for certain programs, Install Ubuntu(linux) or any flavor that suits you
Been fine on Win 11 for months.
Wait a while
Are you sure it’s ‘stalled’?
It may be reconfiguring the system in the background and appears to be stalled.
Have a cup of coffee, go to lunch and just let it do it’s thing. ...................
Is that a lab experiment PC you can spare? Its Microsoft’s new ‘jab’.
Microsoft always releases a product before it is ready. For some reason the law enforcement entities of the world allow this false advertising and destructive fraud.
Linux has been a great replacement for Windows and it isnt part of the Cabal.
Are you hard wired to your network or connecting via wireless?
How long do you let it run after it stalls?
I installed WindowsFX [Linux distro of Win 11]. There were times, it seemed to stall, but I left it alone. It eventually continued on and did install.
Be sure you aren’t rushing it. It may be working the background.
My Mac 2011 MBP Experience on major upgrades was terrible. I went through 3 rounds and it hung every time. After 24 hours I gave up each time. I had to re-install all the apps all 3 times.
I’m getting another M1 or M1X next but don’t think it will be any better.
Macs are absolutely different from windows but really no better and considering MAC is a closed architecture they should be just about flawless. Both IOS and MacOS crash more than Android and Windows too.
No points for Apple from me on that front.
Hubby did today and all went well, until he tried to close Spotify, then it all crashed. But it came back up OK. Not sure of the Spotify status at this time.
