I had the same problem upgrading to Windows 10 back in the day. I was able solve the problem by restarting the windows update service(wuauserv) when the install stopped. You will find it in the services tab in task manager. I had to restart the service several times, but eventually the install completed.
Ah yes...starting down the path to subscription based software programs.
