As the nation grapples with the threat of high inflation, Bloomberg News is reporting that Americans are now feeling the heat of price spikes.

The outlet published a damning story Sept. 17 headlined, “Americans See Worst Buying Conditions in Decades on High Prices.” Specifically, according to Bloomberg News, buying conditions “for household durables deteriorated to their worst since 1980 because of high prices.” The declines, based on the University of Michigan’s consumer sentiment report, were attributed to “complaints about high prices.” The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board stated July 19 that Biden’s “policies have abetted a spike in inflation that is outstripping gains in wages.”

Now? It's been going on for a while. Apparently the hottest RE market in a long time is tanking along with durable goods.

The weedkiller concentrate we use on our farm was $28 per gallon last Fall. This spring it was $32 and two days ago 39.99

The RE market in CA is going to really tank as soon as developers start scraping single family homes put up TWO houses and TWO granny units on the same one-quarter acre lot.

Towns and cities no longer control their local zoning — it’s controlled by Sacramento.

Single Family Detached Home zoning was just wiped out by Newsom a couple days ago. I thought the Senate Bill that introduced that was absolutely insane and had zero chance of ever getting passed. I woefully underestimated the commies ability to steal your property.

I’m hearing more & more people say to get your Christmas shopping done by beginning of Nov. because there won’t be much left after that. I’m 1/2 way through with mine, and that’s unusual for me.

No choice. A CEO yesterday said the cost of a shipping container a year ago was about $3,000. Now it’s almost $20,000. The difference gets passed down to the consumer.

They’re doing this in every large city. It was an Obama idea and proclamation. They want high density everywhere.

As long as the Fed keeps borrowing money into existence, relaxed zoning won't change prices much at all. It will ruin neighborhoods, to be sure - but due to the cost of building materials, the low interest rates, and the pent-up demand due to the shortage caused by the 2008 crash, housing prices are going to continue upward for some time. They literally cannot crash unless the Fed suddenly changes policy - which it does not dare to do.

A “green” economy means a lower standard of living.

SlowJoe wants 4 dollar gas and eliminating methane for home heating.

Americans Panic Over Soaring Inflation, Buying Conditions Hit The Worst On Record

Ok, Now This Is TRULY Horrifying (Food Inflation)

I think it is going to get very complex and confusing in the next few years.

In a centrally commanded economy (like we have now) there are no real “markets”—all prices are distorted—and supply and demand get out of whack quickly and then the government will over-react and they will get out of whack in the other direction.

So—I would predict the trend will not be up or down—it will just be crazy swings.

During the Plan-Demic I did a lot of shopping on-line for everyday things. Literally NO problems getting what I needed and things were delivered within days.

Now that I’m down to ordering maybe a few books or some yarn on-line, things are taking a week or more to arrive, or just not showing up at all and I have to go track them down.

So, just in my small experience, supply & delivery chains ARE breaking down, which was to be expected with the shipping container crisis. And the things I’m ordering are from right here in the USA, so I’m not exactly sure WHAT is up, though maybe a lack of semi-truck drivers and FedEx and UPS drivers?

I have also noticed that FedEx and UPS are re-routing things through the USPS and some things are delivered by my Mailman, now.

Again, all of this is anecdotal from my neck of the woods.

And at the same time:

“NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the firearm industry trade association, surveyed firearm retailers recently and estimates that over 3.2 million people purchased a firearm for the first time during the first half of 2021.”
