The Meade County School district is dealing with an unusual situation: a group of high school students is attending school acting like and dressing as cats.
The superintendent tells WLKY the situation is being addressed, but according to a concerned grandparent, it’s an ongoing problem that has many students on edge.
"Apparently, from what I understand, they’re called 'furries,'" the grandmother, who asked to remain anonymous, told WLKY. "They identify with animals. These people will hiss at you or scratch at you if they don’t like something you’re doing."
She said it’s not a new problem.
"I was hearing rumblings of this last year, but it really got bad when they went back to school this year. I have two grandkids in school and my grandkids didn’t want to go to school anymore," she said.
She said the issue gained attention on social media once people started sharing photos and videos of the feline costumes and behavior, "I started getting videos and messages from kids, and I said, 'Ok, I’m going to post this so parents know what’s going on.'"...

On the one hand, this is very weird and possibly disturbing.
I don't know if there is a mask mandate in this school district. If so, that is also rather disturbing. And I never knew how many weird people there were until the 'rona came along.
In some ways, wearing a cat costume, complete with mask, somehow doesn't seem that weird in comparison to other things.
Trade them for Americans in Kabul.
These people are bona-fide insane. Being a staffer at Anime Central and a long-time attendee, Furries have an almost exclusively sexual component, though some do seriously identify as the animal they’ve dressed up as.
First world problems.
This is what happens when you infantilize adults and older teens. They do this sh!t.
What a bunch of pussies! There! I said it. Glad I got that out of me.
We’ve all seen the collages of oddball losers arrested at Antifa riots. These nuts are their farm team
It’s all fun and games until someone comes to school as a dog. Or a rat.
That’s a sign of a WEAK Principal and Assistant Principal.
They are allowing the students to dictate basic terms.
Maybe this is a school that wants to ‘be friends who don’t judge’ with students vs being an instructor who does their job.
The geandmother wants to remain anonymouse.
I could not be more in agreement.
If kids came in and did this on one day as a joke, nobody would give it a second thought.
But if it is an ongoing thing-it sounds like mental illness.
Honestly, there were odd things in High School when I was there many decades ago, but if we ever had something like this going down all the time-it would have been waaaay too weird. In couldn’t imagine ANYTHING like this back then.
They identify as cats. Pretty soon someone will demand they be provided with litter boxes.
Weird. But not as weird as a boy pretending he’s a girl.
We’re gonna need a bigger litter box.
Kids these days are pussies.
yes, intetesting phenomenon, wearing a bunny suit seems sort of only a bit off ordinary, now...
This is a first world problem. Only a culture where the poorest are the most likely to be obese would have rebellious catgender teens.
FReegards
Are they mocking the adults?
Given what the teachers unions, administrators, and school boards are doing with oppressors/oppressed and masks, they deserve to be mocked.
Kick the spay and neuter campaign into high gear.
