Am looking for experiences from Freepers that have had covid-19. I have put this up one other time, Freepers are not here all of the time and browsing habits can vary. If you have already answered please disregard this post. I will publish the results from both polls, removing the top 10% and the bottom 10%. I had it with my wife and 5 kids in February.
Thank you for your time and be blessed!

PS: I should probably do one on vaccines and reactions as well, in time.
Same for most of you comment. Just a mild influenza.

Wife and I had it in February. We were both tired for about 5 days. She had a head ache for a few days and lost taste for months. I had no headache but lost my smell for months. Actually just started getting it back slightly. We were both just tested for antibodies and both came back negative. We both have autoimmune disorders that make our immune system over active. No vaccine for us. I heard a doctor say if you have had it that even if you have no antibodies that your immune system still has a memory of it and will fight it off..
Wife had it but cleared it in 5 days. I was exposed but never came down with it.
Moderna in April
Same type of experience in mid-June. Had a mild cold, was fully vaxxed in April(Pfizer). Cold lasted about 5 days.
Wife & I both had it in January. Less than very short and mild flu. Wife did have low fever, I did not. Flu-like aches & pains. Two days for me, 3 for her.
No residual symptoms, no loss of taste, intelligence (noticeable) or anything else.
I am 76, she 75, I have 2 co-morbidities but am very healthy - I’m 20 lbs. overweight and have cardiovascular disease, triple bypass 12 years ago - but I can maintain 85% max heart-rate for an hour cycling with no problem, have normal BP.
But then, as the test may have been faulty, did we have Covid-19, or just a mild flu?
Only God knows.....
We are fine.
Had it right around Christmas of 2020. Felt run down, had sniffles/congestion, and lost smell/taste. Overall, not a great experience, but not horrible. My wife and kids (19, 21) got it as well around that time.
Fortunately, I was working from home, so I did not miss work at all.
Had a surgery in late December then contracted C-19 a week and a half later. Don’t know how or where as I was going to stores and shopping some for Christmas (several suggested I might have gotten it at hospital).
Woke up one morning and felt hot. Checked temp and it was 103. Went to Doc in Box and tested positive. Was given steroid pack and Z-pak. Started keeping track of temp and other symptoms. Lost smell/taste for 48 hrs. Got pulse oximeter and never went downward on that front. Two weeks later pretty much recovered. Had to get a negative test in order to visit my surgeon for follow up (they wouldn’t see me until). This all happened during surgery leave from my work.
Surgery recovery somewhat clouded experience of C-19. I was quickly off pain meds and normal bowel function was back post anaesthesia then got hit with virus. Bowel function off again. The steroids messed up my sleep cycle and I developed insomnia and some kind of weird panic attack series (hard to describe, still don’t know what that was…maybe not having work to drain energy? being at home with seemingly endless energy and flipped sleep?). I felt like I was trapped in my home, which took on a threatening appearance instead of feeling like “home”. I cried a lot (which I don’t do easily in normal life). Once back to work this eventually subsided and “normal” sleep came back (with help of Melatonin).
Vaccine was not available to all when I got sick. Now, based on research, I don’t believe it’s safe for a Covid-recovered person to take the vaccine.
(Through all this, the Lord and my friends/family got me through!)
That kind of information is censored at volume 11
Wow, I’m glad you recovered from that!
Ok. Had what doc thought it was just my normal spring round of bronchial asthma, gave me Budesonide, azithromycin and a nice cough syrup. I felt lousy for about a week and it took a while for me to get back on my feet.
About six months later I was taking a temp job and they asked me to take the antibodies test as part of the process.
Turned out that my blood was swarming with SARS‑CoV‑2 antibodies.
Rest of my family got tested. None of them had the antibodies and none of them has ever tested positive.
Make of that what you will.
I conclude you’re just a harmless teddy bear at least to your family anyways.
My wife and I both had it in early July this year. She got it first and had a bad headache, head congestion and a mild cough. I got sick seven days later had a runny nose that I took benadryl for and it dried it up, we were both lucky. We are also unvaccinated
Six family members had it. My father, aged 89, and his wife, 79. They caught it from a caregiver of his wife. Mild cases, fatigue, given z-pack and an inhaler. No lingering after effects and my dad is a recent cancer survivor. He took the vaccine as did his wife.
Our grandson caught it at daycare right before Christmas and we thought it was the normal daycare sniffles. Mild case, gave it to his mom (our daughter) who was pregnant at the time. They gave it to us. Daughter and grandson had mild cases, cough which persisted for a few weeks.
I tested positive first, about the last of December, barricaded myself in my room and hubby slept on the couch downstairs, I had a cough, bad headache, tummy issues, low grade fever. Lost smell/taste for about 3 weeks. Same with husband. I heard him coughing downstairs on the couch and asked him to retest. He did and was positive so started treatment.
We took hydroxychloroquine, ivermectin, z-pack, and zinc, vitamin C. Prior to catching it we had been taking quercetine, C, D, K, zinc.
Our cases other than loss smell/taste lasted less than a week. We regained those after about 3 weeks. We tested negative maybe 10 days after testing positive. We are in our mid 60’s.
- Had Covid over a year ago. Four days ill, no hospital, no doctor.
- Have balance, fatigue and high blood pressure. Had life long low blood pressure.
- Doctor has confirmed to the best of his ability, that I have long Covid.
- Indications that the high blood pressure cause me to have two strokes, a small one and a larger one. Did not recognize this, nor do I have and of the typical symptoms or after effects.
- I have a good doctor who has sent blood samples and information about me to a medical center that is working with other long Covid patients. His comment to me was, “you're never sick and then you get some weird crap like this!”
They SAY it's a true vaccine. And you believe them because...?
Possibly had it in March 2020 but I was not tested. Symptoms were very mild and cleared up after 48 hours. I had a non-stop runny nose (very watery) and during the evening on both days I had a mild headache (and I practically never get headaches).
Pretty sure I had the 19....before we were masking x 2....Was up in the grills of many pt's....
Declined the VAX x 3....
I ain't taking the VAX....
I'm pretty healthy....for my age.
I had the H1N1 in 2009
I honestly thought I was going to die. High fever. Hallucinations. Lost 30 lbs in a week.
Covid was not even mentionable compared to that.
Two of us got mild cases (in bed a few days, usual flu-type symptoms). Son-in-law had two weeks of the classic COVID symptoms (severe flu-like with loss of taste), doing fine now. A few family friends ended up the hospital, but came out ok. Two acquaintances got it bad, ended up in the hospital and died. Two people I know went to the hospital with other problems (one frail elderly went in because of a fall) and died - listed as COVID.
So in other words, all over the map.
