In an interview with The Big Issue, William Shatner spoke about mankind’s future, his love of danger, and his own mortality.
Many fans of Star Trek drew comfort from the fact that humans made it to the future without destroying themselves, but Shatner doesn’t think this will happen. “Fifty years ago, I read Rachel Carson‘s Silent Spring,” he explained. “I remember vividly. What she said was going to happen has happened.

I think I see the problem...........................
Rachel Carson‘s “Silent Spring” has been thoroughly debunked, only the most gullible believe it.
We sure do live in interesting times
A climate alarmist. I like and respect him, even if he’s wrong on this.
Same age as Eastwood who turned 90 in May.
So he read that made up garbage and what? Became a lunatic?
Don't worry. Plenty of viruses and the cures will fix everything
Back in the 1980s, a guy named Lester Brown was the enviro-prophet-du-jour.
He predicted massive famine in Africa and particularly China. Civil war in China due to food riots, massive drought across the globe.
total nonsense - and he’s still putting garbage predictions.
“I remember vividly. What she said was going to happen has happened.”
BS. I read it in High School around 1967 and she did not predict the future. Capitalist societies have done an outstanding job protecting the environment (unlike communists).
What’s going to get us are people like Fauci and his ilk who create new life forms in the laboratory and let them escape...or turn them loose on us. Just look at the speed at which this coronavirus swept the globe and reached into every nook and cranny of the entire earth. If you could gather up all the coronavirus from the entire globe, it would weigh only 1/4 pound to 20 pounds. That is all the mass it takes to bring the entire planet to heel.
Bingo!
Queue the morons talking about how they ran in streams of DDT fog, and how it has little effect on humans (in other words the dolts who never read the book).
He’s a moron, as per this.
On Star Trek, Captain Kirk would have already broken the prime directive and eradicated the Covid, with McCoy’s help of course.
Future Admiral KIrk will come in a time machine and save our planet..with some dilthium chrystals or the like.
Well, I guess we’ll have to explore strange new worlds and seek out new life and new civilizations.
Nah, don’t you know it’s utterly Satanic to infer that we Special Humans are not subject to population pressures like mere ‘animals’? If you don’t want a planet with a population of 200 billion, you can’t possibly be a Christian, or a Conservative. Every sperm is sacred!
Shatner seems like he would be a pretty cool guy to have a beer with, but believing he has some insight into the future of mankind is like assuming Stephen Hawking would have been able to pour us the beers at the bar without spilling any.
But the sharks should flourish
Just watched the mule, and wow did Eastwood look and act old in that movie. Shatner, while, old, stil, is pretty spry. Maybe Eastwood was just ‘acting the part’ for the movie, but even his voice sounded strained and old
