Shatner seems like he would be a pretty cool guy to have a beer with, but believing he has some insight into the future of mankind is like assuming Stephen Hawking would have been able to pour us the beers at the bar without spilling any.

A lot of actors are like that. They confuse the great experience of having a role that makes their career with reality. For example Martin Sheen is convinced his West Wing role gave him profound insight on the Presidency.
