Should Critical Race Theory Be Banned in Public Schools?—a Conversation with Christopher F. Rufo
Quillette ^ | 7/20/2021 | Jonathan Kay and Christopher F. Rufo

The creators and defenders of Critical Race Theory, or CRT is it’s often known, describe it as a legal and academic movement aimed at critically examining the many ways in which racism manifests, with a view toward pushing beyond traditionally liberal color-blind laws and solutions. It has been around since the 1970s, but in the wake of Black Lives Matter, CRT has suddenly become a lot more prominent in progressive activism and academia.

And while many conservatives have pushed back on CRT throughout the years, basically accusing its champions of using postmodern language to justify reverse racism, no one has pushed back quite as hard as Christopher Rufo. As a speaker, media personality, web pundit, and now filmmaker, he has railed hard against CRT and called for efforts to ban its inclusion in public school curricula.

I recently spoke to Christopher Rufo about these ideological tensions.

Indoctrination into any kind of racism, including into Critical Race theory style racism, should not be done in school.

Education about reading, writing, mathematics, science and the like should be done in schools.

Ban the marxist teachers. Take back the schools.

It sets the course for this country for the next generation

What we would like to happen, but what will likely happen in the large blue cities and states, are two entirely different matters. Every time conservatives abandon a city or state, it just forfeits it’s control to the leftists.

Public schools should be banned if they cannot teach children:

1) That they live in the greatest nation on Earth

2) The Pledge of Allegiance

3) E Pluribus Unum

The racial bigotry should be left to the parents.

" Should Critical Race Theory Be Banned in Public Schools? "

In a similar vein of pseudo journalism:

- Should decapitation be banned in government schools?
(noting that "public schools" have not existed since the early 1970's)...

- Should rape & pillage be banned in government schools?
(noting that "public schools" have not existed since the early 1970's)...

- Should murder be banned in government schools?
(noting that "public schools" have not existed since the early 1970's)...

Why not make it a non-mandatory class, strictly voluntary and with permission only from parents. Bet it would die on the vine, very few would participate.

Critical Race Theory as theory and practice has no merit, especially in this country. The philosophies consulted for writing our Constitution emerged from the Christian principle of a loving God placing inestimable value in His human creation. Those who wrote the Constitution understood that any proper community must first exalt the individual. Governments must be built on preserving intangible property first sourced in personal self-protection, opinion, religion, communications, use of abilities to labor physically and mentally, and in conscience. Such was the outcome of the Constitutional Convention when life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness became the people of the United States securing the blessings of liberty.

Through their efforts after the emergence of independent colonies and for all time Americans would be defined as sovereign individuals finding their identity in exercising pre-existing intangible liberties within bounds of voluntary self-restraint and accompanied by the hazards and uncertainties of personal freedoms. Their ethnicity, gender, class, and race would always be secondary expressions of humanity.

Solving any social problems has to begin with those first principles.

Yes. Any school that receives any public money in any form should be prohibited from teaching CRT in any form, under any name.

See social justice majors versus “mandatory social justice classes” for graduation.

RUFO:
I also exposed the Walt Disney Company, and they initially tried to defend themselves. They actually—and preposterously—put out a statement that said “we can’t possibly be racist because we made Black Panther,” which is like the corporate PR equivalent of the black friend defense.
Bwahahahahaha!! Good one!
