This Fourth of July holiday we might pause for a moment from our festivities to ask how we collectively lost our minds over the last 15 months—and are we yet regaining any semblance of our sanity?
A pandemic caused by the leak of a Chinese-engineered virus and its coverup was cause enough for nationwide madness. But the spread of COVID–19 was followed by a nationalized and often politicized “flatten-the-curve” quarantine that soon ensured a stir-crazy nation. Tens of millions saw no people, and heard nothing human other than what was fed to them through television and computers. No wonder they grew paranoid, conspiratorial, and angry, and soon forgot the therapeutic nature of personal interaction and the shared humanity of being in the physical presence of others.

For feel good reading, get a copy of Stephen Coonts “Liberty’s Last Stand.” I’ve read it three times - the ending is super and it’s worth all 511 pages to get to that point. Moral of story - Don’t Mess With Texas!!
“”He’s a national treasure.””
He most certainly is...
The genesis of our American collective meltdown is painfully obvious. Over the past sixty years a significant percentage of the American population has embraced neo pagan epicurean decadence. Earth worship complete with mystical rituals and beliefs has replaved deity centered relifion and its attendant morality. People have embraced open homosexuality with all its permutations including pedophilia. Drug use and abortion are widespread and celebrated. People have become poorly educated, dependent and seek the pseudo comfort of govenment dominance in their lives. It should never be forgotten or overlooked that the criminal, amoral, demented Bien and his vile leftist cabal do not exist in a political or cultural vacuum. The decadents now form a near majority of the American population. There no longer exists a consensus of common values to unite Americans
Bttt
He hints at the great fraud of the 2020 election but does not state it outright. Few are so bold.
What he should have said here is: All this was antecedent to our first election in which voting was incidental, not essential, to the outcome.
That was basically America's epitaph.
Two take always.....
>> The derangement was then capped off, first, by a buffoonish riot <<
Baffoonish riot? How about a leftist infiltrated rally turned sham planned riot?
>> Our adversaries can’t quite believe their good fortune. <<
Our adversaries planned all of this chaos, along with the Dems.
A sick and sad image VDH draws, but, IMO, he doesn’t rightly call out the left/DS for the destruction we’re witnessing.
I love how Trump has called out the SPINELESS RINOs as OUR side’s biggest problem. They are. They continuously acquiesce to the destructive left.
Thanks for posting. Brilliand and spot on as usual. He says so with in so few words. Hanson is an effective writer.
He is not wrong about a single thing.
That the Supreme Court affirmed that it is okay for men to assault women by going into their private areas and exposing themselves, a complete rejection of sanity, is a siren warning that the country has been pushed most of the way down the slippery slope into oblivion.
I love Victor Davis Hanson and I am sorry he is in such a bad mood.
But it’s quite understandable.
America lost when Trump “lost.”
I agree.
“No wonder they grew paranoid, conspiratorial, and angry, and soon forgot the therapeutic nature of personal interaction and the shared humanity of being in the physical presence of others.”
Elementary psychobabble.
I normally like VDH. But he’s outside his normal expertise here.
Here I am visiting South Florida, and I see more people masked indoors than up in North Jersey where I live. Sheeple are compliant and in fear.
In Florida wearing a mask is a way for liberals to say “F You” to DeSantis.
Answer: the vast majority of people are morons
—and are we yet regaining any semblance of our sanity?
Answer: barely, if at all (because the vast majority of people are morons).
That’s why I laugh in the face when people tell me Florida is a “red” state. It is a purple state that voted for Obama twice, and almost elected a bisexual crackhead as governor in 2018. Spend time in Palm Beach, Broward and tell me how “red” it is Murdoch media acolytes (I swear the Murdoch family has real estate interests in Florida the way the NY Post and Fox News glorify the state).
We are a nation in freefall and blame for it lies squarely in the shoulders of leftists. Actor Henry Winkler would like us to bury the hatchet but the right side is wary because leftists are notorious for burying the hatchet - in our backs. Besides being laughably insincere and naïve it is too little too late.
I like to (mis)quote the old saw: “Liberals - you can’t live with them and you can’t kill them - yet”.
We are beyond a grudging handshake and a vow to “agree to disagree”. Why? Because the left won’t let us. Not only do they hate life and their existence here on the planet, and insist on destroying it, they demand that we surrender to their madness too and join them in their self destruction.
No thanks.
My message to the left: Keep it up and we’ll give you something to cry about.
Ask the murdered children sacrificed to the altar of feminist narcissism.
Rev 6:10: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
Credit for that goes to a demonic supreme court of 1973.
Or maybe ask madilyne o'hair when she got prayer removed from public schools.
Erase Christ from America and you get ........ what we've got today. Chaos and perversion.
I believe that the motion started in 1965 with Lyndon Johnson's Great Society. Obama was just another useful idiot to keep the socialist fires burning. The pussification of America started with Johnson as did the beginning of the destruction of the educational and media complexes. Television and the internet accelerated that movement.
