OK, so this is mostly just a blowing-off-steam thread. (PLEASE feel free to post your steam!)
I'm disgusted by this nonsense. This is nothing but a "stick it to white Americans" ploy. Another childish, babyish action with zero background. Suddenly some local-yokel thing even blacks didn't know about is a national celebration.
When I kept hearing fireworks tonight around our neighborhood, it finally occurred to me it's probably about "Juneteenth"!
Not the ones that remember the sacrifices we made to defeat that human scourge. Nice try though.
Since they were bitter clingers to the institution of slavery even AFTER the Civil War and the Constitutional Amendment, maybe they should be stuck with the reparations costs.
Point. Great one as a matter of fact.
I don’t know about where anybody else lives but most schools that I know of are out for the Summer by now or too busy wrapping up the school year now.
Not a neo- con, I’m am America Firster all the way. You are mentally illyou little punk, you better watch who your talking too coward. Keeping a list of other freepers
You can shove your lost cause straight up your a—, and then get the hell out of my country that you hate so much, you punk loser. Kiss off!
Do you remember the year you in CO began celebrating May 5th?
I think designating a day to celebrate the end of an institution like slavery is just fine. Had it been Commie-Kawanzaa, however, I’d be a-barfin’!
“We need to take this away from the left and claim it ourselves.”
This is why we can’t have anything nice in this country.
“We need to take this away from the left and claim it ourselves.”
Agreed. The freeing of the slave was one of the greatest conservative and Republican achievements in American history. It was a triumph for Christian values and for freedom.
I got one for you:
Lake Oswego, Oregon...pit of white guilt and liberalism, an ‘upper crust’ community...
CANCELLED Independence Day celebration - denying any permit for parades/etc whatsoever, even under their self-imposed 250 person limit, I understand - providing the same reason they did last year (the virus).
HOWEVER:
They issued a permit with hardly any notice whatsoever for an unlimited participation...
...for Juneteenth celebration. Lars Larson is the ONLY one to have this story due to a listener; he’ll have more on Monday.

I look at it as a celebration of the Union Troops.
And of the Telegraph. If these guys had the Telegraph they would have know a lot sooner.
I think Government workers should almost everyday off. They cannot screw us if they aren’t working.
I have never known a single Black person who celebrated Kwanzaa. (I have lived in a Black-majority area for decades, lived and worked among Black people over all of my life, and grew up and was half-raised by a Black nanny.)
Independence day and Juneteenth are entirely different commemorations.
Buddy of mine just told me he received a mass email today from his stockbroker wishing all his clients a happy Juneteenth. He called the guy and said ...what the hell is this Juneteenth shit? ...you gonna wish me a happy Kwanzaa next? The embarrassed broker said that wasn’t the first call he received along those lines tonight. Guess he thought engaging in PC virtue signaling would be good for business. Turned out to be the opposite.
“Do you know what we celebrate on Juneteenth?”
“I don’t know and I don’t care.”
You’re a south bashing dick
You’ve allied with our enemies here forever....
You’re no conservative
Virtue signaling race baiter
Anyone here can see your posting history
Cowboy my ass....
Wipe Jonah Goldberg off your chin..
I love the USA, you love the CSA. No American Flag on your profile, I see just a Traitor Confederate one. Old Andy Jackson, a TRUE son of TN. Would have known what to do with you.
I honor southerners that fought for the Union (and there were many, especially in TN.
Or as Jackson said to Calhoun, “If you secede from my nation, I will secede your head from your body.”
Yes, it’s ridiculous.
