VIDEO: My First Time Using an Air Fryer

VIDEO

For some reason I've had my doubts as to how well air fryers cook food despite hearing from people who are very enthusiastic about them. However, I remained curious about them and when I heard there was a sale on this air fryer, I decided to take the plunge. In this video we see the results of my first time using an air fryer.

hA-HA. So you were the lucky one this time. I hit the refresh as soon as I see her to rotate to another ad. It’s enough to make a person lose their lunch.

A favorite subject. There are so many on the infomercials. Should I get the ninja foodi or Emeralds? I was partial to a rotisserie function but now chickens can be had on $5 Fridays at Safeway. Don’t taste too good but they last for days. Easy clean-up a must.

It does air frying. It’s just messy.

I have a Ninja Foodi air fryer/pressure cooker/dehydrator etc etc and I LOVE IT. I use it almost every day and will never go back to frying chicken in all that oil. Super easy to use, easy to clean. Pressure cooking eggs is the BEST way to make hard boiled eggs. I now make deviled eggs almost weekly ‘cause the shells practically fall off the egg. Also, if you have a dish that requires stove top cooking and then putting it in the oven, you can do it all in one pot. I made my husband and boys get me a Ninja Grill for Christmas and use it just as much as the pressure cooker. Between the two foodis and our smoker I rarely use my oven.

We have a “Big Boss” air fryer. I have baked a turkey in the thing!

The only complaint is that it is hard to clean.

My air fryer is a setting and a special basket in my regular kitchen oven (samsung). Really just convection bake with this special rack/basket thing.
It is fabulous.

A good "cure" for those puketube commercials is to hit "reload" the instant they come on.
Hit again if another comes on.

As a matter of fact, I will be pressure cooking some corned beef tonight using some of my hubbys homemade garlic beer as the liquid. Yummy stuff!

Here’s a comparison of dedicated air fryers vs. toaster ovens with an air fryer setting:

I got this one, Bella 2qt for $25 at Best Buy. I don’t know if it is still on sale but I will soon be buying at least a 2 qt air fryer. This is a game changer for me because I don’t like oven cooked chicken and smoking chicken on the Weber takes up time and not practical for one or two people.

The only complaint is that it is hard to clean.

This new air fryer was very simple and easy to clean so very convenient.

Never did cluck in my air fryer, but it does a great job on fries and O rings. You need to “dial it in” a little as the factory settings are not exact.

It’s not a fryolater but it’s better than oven cooked.

I been considering those air fryers as I live by myself.

and like you, I consider frying in oil to difficult and too messy.

thank you for that marvelous video.

;)

It’s my understanding that the only difference between my $70 Breville toaster oven (used; new about $150) and the $350 ‘air fryer’ version is both the basket and the fans for convection.

The old Oster countertop convection oven was my favorite; my kitchen remodel is incorporating a cooktop with built-in full size oven and cubby holes for microwave & convection ovens alike, the latter akin to this Cuisinart:

I have been browsing the thrift shops for stainless baskets :)

The Big Boss has a 3.5 gallon glass bottom that is very heavy to wash out.

My wife bought one that also dehydrates but, as with several other kitchen gadgets, she hasn’t used it. I was looking through the little recipe book and found one for beef jerky, which intrigued me.

Try baby back ribs... out of this world. Chicken wings better and faster than restaurant’s can do...

I’m with you on the ‘no electronics’...

I have an Amazon Basic unit... not digital, no chips, no problems. I think it ran around $50 or $60... Great little machine... Also bought two silicon ‘pan’ inserts for it... Easy to wash, easy to stick in the dishwasher. The main unit doesn’t get dirty.

Frank’s hot sauce + butter if the official one. I used to get hot wings at a biker bar in FL who had really good food. The wings were hot but also had just a touch of something sweet. I asked the barmaid one time and she said just a touch of pancake syrup. Later on I brought my wife there and she was asking bout that flavor. I told her what it was and you should have seen the look on some other barmaids face. She was freaked out that I somehow learned the secret. Hopefully the first barmaid didn’t get in trouble.
