Coke Gets a Kick in the Can from Consumers
Family Research Council ^ | April 7, 2021 | Tony Perkins

A week into the fiasco over Georgia's election law, most Americans want to know: just who are these woke CEOs listening to? Not to their shareholders, who can't make a profit when their companies alienate half of the country. Not to lawyers or legislators, who could set them straight on what the policy actually does. And certainly not to U.S. consumers, who are sending a resounding message that they're done with businesses who can't check their radicalism at the door long enough to read a 98-page piece of legislation.

"It's insanity," Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.) agreed on "Washington Watch." Like most people, he can't believe that Major League Baseball, Coca-Cola, Delta, and so many others would put the solvency of their companies on the line to make a political point that -- it turns out -- isn't even true! When even MSNBC is telling Joe Biden he "needs to keep it honest," the Democratic Party has reached a low even the liberal media can't believe. And yet the White House and its field marshals in Hollywood and Atlanta created such a ridiculous narrative about this law that people like Willie Geist are going on the most radical news outlet in the country and insisting it's impossible to "square the president's argument."

"[D]oesn't it seem that a lot of people jumped the gun?" Joe Scarborough asked in follow-up. They moved the MLB All-Star Game "before actually either reading the bill or understanding how the bill lined up with New Jersey laws, with New York laws, with laws all across the nation," he said. Then, astounding even more viewers, he took aim at the lynchpin of the Left's whole argument. "...

Hey, I’m already on a diet all the time. Now you want me to give up diet soda? Sheesh.

“..not a real soda drinker.”

No me neither, just don’t really go for sweet drinks in general.

I’m sure I must have had an RC Cola at some point in my life, but don’t know. If I see it I might buy it and give it a try.

Actually had a Snapple Peach Iced tea the other day, that is super delicious, but again very sweet. When I started to drink it I was like: oh man I gotta buy more of this! By the time I got to the end I was like: that was nice, perhaps I’ll have one again some day.

Just find a generic brand. And there is also that no-calorie drink that’s even better. It’s called “water.”

Never was a thing for me so no great loss. No hard drinks at all. Occasionally a shot of something if I’m in the mood.

When I have a taste for something fizzy I will have a beer.

I do miss Cokes and have even dreamed of drinking one.

Had to switch to hard drinks. Beer was making me have beer gut.

Generic brands all either taste like medicine, are too sweet, have a nasty aftertaste or give a lovely almost stinging sensation

Water? Seriously? Works really well (not) with any spicy foods. And I don’t like bland foods. And water (including carbonated water) is a dreadful mixer for mixed drinks

I like my fries Belgian style, with the mayonnaise on yhe side. The Belgian style fries came over from Europe after WWI.

Mayo on anything makes me physically ill. Disgusting.

These CEOs are just revealing their own left wing/hate America feelings. They have only contempt for this country.

I’ve been all over the world and every region has its own special hot sauce (and panfried bread) but to me, Sriracha hot sauce is tastes terrible.

I’ve always been a beer drinker but do like a shot of a good tequila now and then. In my youth I would do so often. Now not so much. I stick with one or two beers and am the permanent designated driver for my husband.

Once I became a mother I never felt comfortable getting drunk so it’s been thirty years since I really tied one on.

Absolutely love it, and most other hot sauces and chilis

But without Sprite or Coke or some other carbonated sweet drink, you are playing with fire (literally). For me, sweet ice tea sometimes works. But I prefer carbonation.

I did some temp work for Pepsi back in the ‘80s. Remember “The Pepsi Challenge”? It was an actual booth we set up at fairs, etc. Honestly tallying, the Pepsi came out on top every time

Then Coke came back with what turned out to be a brilliant marketing strategy (although I'm not sure they had all the steps planned out in advance)

1. Introduce New Coke ("more like Pepsi")
2. New Coke completely tanks
3. Bring back the original as Classic Coke
4. Classic Coke is a huge success
5. Eventually drop New Coke

I think the net result of market share for the whole time period tilted Coke's way. It didn't hurt that Pepsi was the perceived lefty brand at the time, with their very public attempts to expand their market into USSR and their left-appealing advertising.
