Lt. Gov. Jon Husted said Thursday he would respond to a letter from Asian Americans in his community critical of him for using the term “Wuhan virus” to describe the coronavirus. But he once again stood by his use of the term, laying out a detailed defense, and declined the opportunity to apologize for using what many view as hurtful language targeting Asian Americans....
Husted ignited controversy last Friday when he tweeted out an article in which former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Dr. Robert Redfield said, without providing evidence, he believed the theory that the coronavirus pandemic came from a lab in Wuhan, China. Most medical and scientific experts discount the theory, with evidence pointing to the virus spreading from animals to humans.
“So it appears it was the Wuhan Virus after all?” Husted tweeted.
Husted has defended his use of the term by saying he was asking questions about the Chinese government’s culpability in the spread of the virus beyond its borders. At no point in his tweet did he mention the Chinese government, only clarifying that point after receiving backlash on social media....
Asked about the letter on Thursday at Gov. Mike DeWine’s coronavirus briefing, Husted launched into a lengthy explanation of what he said was the context of his words, saying they were not coded language.
Wuhan is “inseparable” from the story of the pandemic and is a city in China, not an ethnicity, he said....
“I think everyone is watching to see what he does or what the governor thinks because just days before, the governor wrote a letter to the organizers of a rally in Columbus two weekends ago that had a very different message than what Husted appears to say in his tweet and responses,” Wong said.

For your consideration.
“it is what it is!”
He can use my phrase: “Chinese Death Boogers”.
He should turn the argument around on his neighbor, asking him if he thought it was okay to conflate *all* Asians with Chinese? Would it be insulting to other Asians if he called it the “Chinese virus?”
That IS where it came from.
The CCP doesn’t like it when you say it.
I wonder if DeWine mentioned any worries had has about the “South African” or “Brazilian” “variants” at his press conferenced yesterday.
I would have watched it, but I gave up drinking for Lent, and one cannot very well do “Wine with DeWine” without real wine.
I don’t recommended not drinking while listening to him. I tried it once. I didn’t get very far.
I had to start drinking with his press conferences.
I don’t give a damn what happens to RINO Husted or his RINO boss DeWine.
They have destroyed the people and the economy of Ohio.
They are Mask Cult High Priests.
Calll for a waaaaaambulance.
For God’s sake Jon, DON’T APOLOGIZE. You said it, you meant it, let them syew in their own hate over it.
Chicom Cooties
Agreed. Never apologize.
That Cleveland response to this is is another serious propaganda approach where the media is playing the racial game without offering proof are claiming those few attacks on Asians was done because of their supporting Covid 19. That should get stomped on.
They’re doing this to cover the demons who worked with the CCP who don’t want the CCP to be blamed for creating the CCP 19 virus. Let’s not forget members of the Biden campaign the demons boastfully acknowledged that Covid 19 really helped get Biden in. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3940857/posts The conservative media should refer to it as “The CCP 19 virus not the “China Virus” and demand make the CCP pay by kicking Biden and the CCP out which would happen if that did with a Biden loss.
I’m of Chinese descent. It’s the Wuhan virus. Just like the Spanish Flu was first diagnosed in Spain. Nothing racist about it. Just the facts, ma’am.
Do they prefer Kung Flu?
(LOL - look up vintage Kung Flu ads)
I also like Wuhan Flu. Reminds me of the “Doctor Fu Man Chu” song.
OHIO PING!
Please let me know if you want on or off the Ohio Ping list.
