The Corporate-Industrial Complex

The Coming Global ‘Woketopia’:

"Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power." - Benito Mussolini

On January 17, 1961, in his farewell address to the nation, President Dwight D. Eisenhower put forward a warning of the danger posed by the Military-Industrial Complex. What Eisenhower was speaking of was the informal alliance between the nation's military and the defense industry that supplies it. From the Industrial Revolution on, as weaponry develop and methods of mass production were advancing in leaps and bounds, the demand for the most advanced and most capable weapons had become a very profitable industry. Both wars and perceived treats of war powered the factories producing arms.

Being that governments were the by far the biggest customers of armaments, manufacturers sought out politicians that would make their case for them to influence policies and push spending on defense, regardless if the spending was justified or not, or if the quality of weaponry available was superior. One of the dangers created from this business relationship was the rhetoric; the nation and all the people needed to be made to believe they were in imminent danger of being attacked. Propaganda, sometimes with a basis of truth but often exaggerated, was important to keep the munitions factories running at capacity even in times of peace. Global conflict meant a booming business wherein both politicians and defense contractors could literately make a killing.

Today defense contractors have plenty of company. In fact, as they wane and their products become disparaged, virtually all other big corporations have come to the political table to play the same game. Dressed as heroes in their marketing campaigns, they portray themselves as saviors who have arisen to save the planet from all the evils of humanity. Each one in his own way, and sometimes uniting together became an insurmountable force, working in tandem with the government and politicians who they have either threatened, bribed, or bought outright.

These corporate powers have now united in their message of “wokeness’. Deeming themselves as all knowing gods, they exercise a self-righteous piety to which the governing powers have acquiesced. They are of one mind and give their power to the Beast. Politicians no longer truly run the county, these Leviathans do. They are the ones deciding what you see and hear. They are the ones who deprive those who do not bow the knee to worship them their ability to be seen or heard. They are the ones destroying funding of diverse opinions with whom they disagree. Mass media, Big-tech, financial institutions and many others who now have gone all out to bring about a “Great Reset” of a new green and red world. They imagine to perfect the world by wiping away the history of the former; by purging out bigots and racists as denoted by their whiteness. They have become the true government, a virtual government who no one voted for at the ballot box; all the while voters think that they vote for people who represent them to affect change. The old saying attributed to Mark Twain, “If voting really mattered, they wouldn't let you do it”, is truer today than ever.

The fail-safe against corporations becoming monopolies and from there, becoming a virtual government themselves is gone. Small business were the life of liberty—many owners, of many minds and diverse ideologies, balancing the ideas of a free republic—those who remain are now a dying breed. Virtually all the vast sums of money and power are now in the hands of but a few.

Where are we now?

Is it possible that the Corporate-Industrial complex will succeed in attaining its global aspirations.? At this point, it would seem likely that to a great degree it will. Especially, since it arose as a virtual government without any representation of the people and can hardly be removed at this point. Most citizens in the free world had their attention on the political process as the impetus of change while corporations were the hand inside the glove of the puppet, often, no matter who the people voted for.

“I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and cause me to tremble for safety of my country; corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption in High Places will follow, and the Money Power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the People, until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands, and the Republic destroyed.” - late 1800s, quote attributed to Abraham Lincoln, origin debated, nonetheless a now proven truth.

Here is a civil war related thread. Corporate Fascism.

Funny, I seem to remember a quote from Lincoln himself warning of Fascism.

Ah, I found it.

“I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. . . . Corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money-power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed.”

I think it’s a real problem. I don’t know what language could have been put into the Constitution to prevent this outcome. It seems almost inevitable.

Silly me. I just noticed that exact quote is at the bottom of the article.

People claim that quote is made up, but it was written in a book in 1908, so if it was made up, it was made up a very long time ago.

I think it is likely a real quote from Lincoln.

Your excerpt on the forum page makes it look like Benito Mussolini gave a farewell speech in 1961.

If Musso did make a farewell speech, it happened in 1945, before he was shot by Italian partisans.

In spite of the jumbled sentence, that is a good quote.

The primary differences between Fascism and Communism:

(1) Fascists understood that capitalism produces a much higher standard of living than Communism.

(2) Most human beings, including Fascist leaders, are instinctively loyal to their country or geographic area or ethnic group, unlike Communism, which has a messianic international flavor to it.

Big Business is not your friend. Go local whenever possible.

Big Business is also willing to get on board with fascism rather than communism because they continue to make money despite losing some control.

Yea, but all Big-media is corporate so it is redundant.

The format of the forum page does that automatically when the article uploads. If you open the article you will see the separation is clear.

Communism bans private property - the fruits of labor - so there is no incentive to be productive. That is why they end up with shortages of everything.

Venezuela saw people eating zoo animals after telling bakers they must sell bread for a lower price than it cost to make it. The bakeries closed rather than the owners giving out their accumulated wealthy to keep selling, and the zoo animals were on the menu (in a climate in which everything grows well).

“Yea, but all Big-media is corporate so it is redundant.”

Yes but Media’s special role is informing or misinforming the public.

It's a fake quote -- yes there were plenty of fake quotes floating around even before the internet!
It sounds like nothing else Lincoln ever said, but very much like some early 20th century Republican or Democrat "Progressive" might say, and wish to put in Lincoln's mouth.

Think of Progressive trustbusters like Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson:

So where did Jack London get it from? How about the Calhoun quote? Is that wrong too?

The Calhoun quote appears to be genuine, but you think London made up the Lincoln quote?

In any case, Lincoln is greatly responsible for the rise of corporate fascism in the US government. The great railroad giveaway is but one example.

Teddy had to go after crony capitalists because the previous administrations had let them get entirely out of control.

DiogenesLamp: "So where did Jack London get it from?

Jack London had a very vivid imagination.
Which Calhoun quote are you referring to?

DiogenesLamp: "In any case, Lincoln is greatly responsible for the rise of corporate fascism in the US government.
The great railroad giveaway is but one example."

What you call "the great railroad giveaway" was certainly not invented by Lincoln, it was standard practice in government supported railroad construction for many years, including Jefferson Davis' time as US Secretary of War.
Davis made the Gadsden Purchase hoping to get the transcontinental railroad Southern route built near his house.

It didn't happen back then (1854) because Northerners wanted a northern or central route and wouldn't agree to enriching Davis.
Jefferson Davis was your ultimate Washington DC swamp critter!
