When I worked as a consultant, I would occasionally speak with employees who were frustrated at the lack of guidance they would get from supervisors and managers. The remark uttered by their superiors, when employees would ask about benchmarks, goals, end results, and other factors was maddening: “I’ll know it when I see it.”
This comment angered me on the employees’ behalf. It is unfair and manipulative in so many ways. It was impossible to tell whether the manager had no clue about how to do the work, was unwilling or unable to be specific, or whether the manager was lazy or just plain stupid. I’d guess all of the above was possible, at one time or another....
The US government in its predictable lack of wisdom is following this same management process. It’s especially obvious because we may have one of the most inept, disrespectful, arrogant, and uninformed administrations that we have seen in recent history. They frankly don’t know what they are doing...
While most of us feel like we’re living our lives in limbo as Covid-19 restrictions march on, we wonder when the governments—federal, state, and local—are going to recover their sanity regarding the draconian restrictions that have been enacted. As of now, these are the questions and the responses I anticipate:
When will the time arrive to end lockdowns? We’ll know it when we see it.
When will the National Guard be removed from the Capitol (since the date will likely change)? We’ll know the right time when we see it.
When will the fencing around the Capitol be removed? We’ll know the right time when we see it.
When will the schools be forced to open and teachers forced to return to work?
We’ll know the right time when we see it....

Idiocracy can only happen when complete narcissists are in control.
We got that.
the biden administration is disrespectful and arrogant... but they are not misinformed... they’re determined to destroy this country by any means necessary...
These are good examples of an incompetent administration. They can’t tell you how they want something done because they don’t know themselves. They expect the underlings to fix all of the problems and do the problem solving. Which really makes you doubt the value of the over paid under achieving “leaders”.
When should I comment on this article?

“Idiocracy can only happen when complete narcissists are in control.”
It just takes a quorum of idiots.
Management is a service gig.
You sacrifice yourself daily for the betterment of those who report to you. Everyone actually.
Care and feeding.
Nurture. Counsel. Guide. Embrace. Mentor. Coach.
That’s leadership, and it’s how you build high performance teams.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
There are A players and B players and the B players are either inexperienced or don’t care. A leaders job is to coach and mentor both and follow their progress/results.
The B’s will become A’s or the B’s will start impacting the moral of the A-team your building. In the case of the latter replace.
Furthermore, you find complacency hiding behind process. Safety is first and process is necessary, but there are always opportunities to go faster.
The job of a leader is to convince those comfortable in the shade of process to find their voice.
The fiasco of school closures is a perfect example of this. The Democrats are incapable of forcing schools open because they are owned by the teachers’ unions, but with each passing day the inner-city minorities who make up a huge part of the Democrat voter base are falling further behind the predominantly white and Asian kids who are back in their private school classrooms full time.
