New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is downplaying the significance of a Supreme Court decision blocking him enforcing stringent attendance limits on religious institutions in Covid hot spots.

“That Supreme Court ruling on the religious gatherings is more illustrative of the Supreme Court than anything else,” Cuomo said on a Thanksgiving morning briefing call. “It’s irrelevant from any practical impact.”

You know what you are doing is wrong, but you are forging ahead anyway regardless of any obstacles.

Maybe not; until Cuomo's goons invade a church or a synagogue, and NY's taxpayers have to foot the bill for a Civil Rights settlement.

Yes, the state will pay to represent Cuomo and other officials in Court from lawsuits, however, Cuomo can be held personally responsible as his edicts are in direct contravention of a Court order, and are illegal. Illegal conduct by Government officials denies them qualified immunity they'd normally enjoy.

These snake charmer politicians/lawyers will skirt the Court's order by creating parking restrictions at the time of the religious services. Anyone who has lived in a major democratic city knows it's not the cops who oppress you, it's the unaccountable parking police who can tow/impound your vehicle on totally created charges.
