Millions of locusts devastate fields, crops and pastures in Chile

Inhabitants and small farmers of Agua Amarilla and the Huacho in Combarbalá, Chile are facing the invasion of millions of locusts, devastating crops, trees and pastures.

Heavy damage has already been reported in both communities, with people starting to worry for their livelihoods and asking officials to eradicate the insect plague.

The flying insects move westward within the region of Combarbalá a trail of devastation behind them.

First investigations show that the locusts are the endemic Chilean species Elasmoderus Wagenknechti (Orthoptera: Tristiridae), also known as “Lobster of Combarbalá.”

Historical books indicate that such gigantic plagues have already occurred in the past around 1970 and to a lesser extent between 1996 – 1999. But nothing similar since.

Back in June 2020, Argentina was badly hit by another biblical plague of locusts.

That's ancient history, man.

Maybe American match making companies will stop making matches in Chile now. Looked at my Ohio Blue tip matches for starting my woodstove fires with the help of CSEA propaganda rags and the box said “made in Chile” as, sadly, most “American” match companies are making their product.

If you are a Chilean farmer, or even a gardener in the affected the loss of income or food can be devastating. Sure, eating locusts is biblical—St. John...”his food was locusts and wild honey.” At best an emergency form of protein if you can stomach it. (Coyotes eat them...Good cattle feed?) Another thread talked about Food shortages and riots in S. America.

The U.S. will have this problem at some time. I have problems with grasshoppers right now. I will be using Nolo bait next spring.

Pete! You solved a long-time mystery for me!

I saw one of these when I was on a firing range at Fort Jackson, South Carolina! I thought I might be hallucinating, LOL!

Another mystery solved.

Now, let me tell you about the day I was on KP and went into the pantry and moved a #32 can of something and a cockroach the size of a Buick reared up on its hind legs and HISSED at me!

There’s a REASON I live ABOVE the Mason-Dixon line and appreciate our first hard freeze when all the bugs go back to H#ll where they belong! :)

When I first read this I saw 'Millions of democrats devastate towns and cities'.

Locusts, democrats, yeah; I guess they are basically the same thing.

Palmetto bugs! They are the size of birds!

No, thanx!

But, I bet chickens eat locusts. And I once had cocktail-type fried grasshoppers and they tasted like french fried onions. So, in a pinch....

I had chocolate-covered ants once. Bearable.

But then, I admire ants and their work ethic versus that of grasshoppers, LOL!

Good reason to live where it gets cold! Until I moved here (KS, approx 38 degrees North Lat.) I do not recall being bitten by chiggers. Deer fly, mosquitos, inhaliing winnabago flys, yes, but not chiggers.

Barberpole grasshoppers...looks like camo for hanging out on multi color indian maize!

Wait! Officers doing KP?? Or just Female officers?

Giant palmetto bug? Food in China.

**Graphic warning...insectavore video. (Seriously!)**

Perhaps time for Chile to start harvesting locusts and selling them to China.

Thanks Pete. I posted that one as well - worthy of a read at least to know what might be in store this coming winter.

It might all be a set-up for Agenda 2030/Great Reset in Davos.
