[Vanity] Which Is Better?
Me | Today | Me

Which is more politically advantageous for the election just six weeks from now? Ramming the nominee through before November 3 or having it hanging out there and confirming sometime between Election Day and Inauguration Day?

If the Democrats go after the nominee the way they did after Kavanaugh, it will hurt them at the polls -- bigly. But which is better for Republicans?

We need 9 justices on the supreme court because the Left is not going to accept a Trump victory under any circumstances.

“By an means necessary,” and they mean it.

Getting Darth Bader's replacement confirmed quickly does three things for the GOP:

1. It eliminates the open seat as a campaign issue.

2. It reinforces the GOP's "street cred" on judicial nominations.

3. It demoralizes the Democrats before Election Day.

I am adamantly opposed to giving the left any opportunity whatsoever to pleasure themselves with a circus surrounding this process. They did it with Bork. They did it with Thomas. They did it with Kavanaugh. Enough is is enough. No hearings. Fill the seat. Let the babies cry.

Why would immediate action on a nominee be “ramming it through?”

There’s plenty of time to hold hearings. Senators can preen for the camera, say their slogans, and play “gotcha” with the candidate, just as they always do.

It could all be wrapped up weeks before the election.

My enemy doesn’t want the vacancy filled and can’t justify their thinking. So I’ll go with “fill that seat”. ;) Logically, I think it better be nine sitting in the court when all the phony voting/fake election scams start.

I didn’t think McConnell and the Republicans would get the team together, but I may have been wrong.

Take the bird in the hand. Trump can improvise, Biden and the Dems cannot. Move the nomination and vote before election day if you can whip up the votes.

4. Shows Trump can get things done.

That’s huge for all the Pubbie “Never Trumpers” who think he’s ineffective.

ALWAYS tell the truth and follow the law expeditiously.

Trump is known by all to act QUICKLY on anything he CAN act quickly on. It would be unlike Trump to delay accomplishing the filling of the deciding seat on the court.

Since we KNOW Joe & Blow will CONTEST a Trump victory and take it to COURT, it is IMPERATIVE ABOVE ALL ELSE that RBG's seat be filled as soon as possible.. NO POLITICAL TACTIC IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THIS!

PERIOD!

Without question this needs to all be settled by election day. Let the left act like squealing little babies all they want, it won’t help them one bit with the vote. If the Republicans stall and blow this then anything can happen.

You overlooked the most important thing..

4. It removes the prospect of a nullified 4-to-4 (on a GOOD day because of Roberts) SCOTUS, potentially allowing Joe & Blow to STEAL the election in lower courts AFTER election day.

They will go after the nominee whoever it is. Whenever it is.

That is what they do. That is who they are.

Bork. Thomas. Kavanaugh. Only 3 of the examples of their previous assaults.

They are scorched earth. They are the politics of personal destruction.

That is who they are. That is what they do.

What E.PU said, we might need her sooner than later to avoid a situation where a 4-4 SCOTUS allows a lower Court decision to install Biden as POTUS. We need 9 Justices to avert a constitutional crisis.

Also, don’t assume the fight will help the Republicans. With the help of the MSM, Dems cashed in on Kavanaugh to the tune of 41 net flipped seats. We were lucky that only 9 of the 35 Senate seats up for grabs were R’s, or we would have lost the Senate too. This time the roles are reversed, with R’s defending 23 of the 35 Seats being contested and the Dems only 12.

It removes the prospect of a nullified 4-to-4

This is critical. The dems would pick a reliable circuit court of appeals, like the DC Circuit, where they would win. A 4-4 SCOTUS means the lower court decision stands. John Roberts has proven he is not above playing politics. Also, I wouldn't put it past Roberts to delay seating a confirmed justice, particularly if it is Barrett, who has been critical of him.

I prefer to the the process completed before Election Day. I want to see the demand senators on the Judiciary Committee wail, gnash their teeth and foam at the mouth.

GOP gained a couple seats after the Kavanagh sliming and holding them to a tight schedule might make them even more unhinged. If the dems got smart though, they will display the proper decorum during the hearings. It seems possible they learned their lesson from last time.
