Everyone has a love/hate relationship with New York City. It has some of the worst qualities, but it's unlike ANY city elsewhere in the world. But now, the city that never sleeps may be gone forever. In a recent LinkedIn op-ed, New Yorker James Altucher wrote why he believes "New York City is Dead Forever." And Glenn agrees: not only is the city completely boarded up due to ongoing violence, but New Yorkers are leaving in a mass exodus. And they're not coming back. This time, New York may not be "bouncing back" like it's done so many times before.

If NYC loses 1 million population does N.Y. state become red?
I grew up there in Queens, my brother still lives there but in Manhattan now. He told me the deli on the corner from him got robbed twice this past month and he just showed me photos of his street with furniture and mattresses left on the sidewalk from people moving out now he says he is going as well, FINALLY.
I absolutely hate the media in this country, this should be headlines news every night “THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS TO A CITY WHEN DEMOCRATS RUN IT!”
Time to break up NYC into five or more separate cities.
Short explanation: DemocRats were elected.
I don’t know, but let’s just hope these NY leftists don’t move into red states and start turning them blue.
Ordinarily NY and CA go blue, and TX and FL go red, with FL a little on the purple side. President Trump (although the undercard Pubbies, not so much) has a shot at taking three of the big states, and being competitive enough in California that the DNC and fellow travs will bleed out everywhere else in order to try to hold California.
HAHA! Not likely. 2016 election:
Hillary 4,556,142,
Trump 2,819,557
...run by five Italian families, perhaps?
jk

Without the restaurants, shopping and theatre, NYC is dead. Unless you have a Guliani style crackdown on the thugs, the rich wont live there and the tourists wont come.
Had no idea things had gotten this bad. My oldest son used to travel to NYC quite often on business, but hasn’t been back since covid. Very sickening to see the greatest city in America, failing. I’m afraid many other large cities will experience similar hard times - especially those with Democrats for mayors.
I’m thinking some of those House seats the RATS stole in Orange County, CA in 2018 could be in play. It would take a miracle for a Republican presidential candidate to win either New York or California any time soon, but if the RATS lose a few hundred thousand votes in both states it might give the GOP an opportunity to pick up a few more House seats!
Post it when you find it.
I figure as long as NY has a port it will survive.
Forever, they’ve wanted us all in cities (Agenda 21). With large cities failing, this may reverse the decline of small cites and rural areas. It may also be a boon for all types of travel, including general aviation.
Pull up any movie from the 40s or 50s look at the New York of that era. It was something to behold. Ayn Rand waxed on and on in her books about how magnificent it was.
Shameful
