1900's --- The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world. 2000's --- Education vs indoctrination, which will it be?
On July 18th I will file to run for our local School Board. I hear it is a tough job that no one likes. I sincerely doubt I'll wilt. I will bring history, patriotism, service, honesty, and truth with me. Maybe, just maybe, I can change the trajectory of the lives of our next generation while their ears are still open to hear by pushing good choices in curriculum, textbooks, and teachers.
I challenge everyone reading this to help me take back education from the socialists. Teach if you can. Work at or with a local school in any capacity available to you. Make a difference.

If you win a seat, please do me a favor. Dont automatically assume that teachers are part of the problem. Yes, there are bad teachers. Just as there are bad doctors and bad plumbers.
But most teachers just plug away, and do the best they can. They are handicapped by insane curriculum requirements, and by insane discipline restrictions.
Heres an example. In my school district, every kid must take advanced algebra. Thats crazy. It would be like requiring every kid to play football. And if a kid misbehaves in advanced algebra class (because he has no interest or ability), he cannot be removed. So the teacher must spend a good amount of class time dealing with that kid instead of teaching.
I have taught in both private and public schools. So Ive pretty much seen it all. And heres my rough estimate:
5% of teachers are just bad. They are in the wrong line of work, and should be let go.
5% are good enough, but they let their personal opinions bleed into their lessons. They need a course correction from a supervisor.
25% are just awesome. They are master teachers who are worth twice their salary. These folks inspire kids, and change lives.
That leaves the 65% whom Ill call journeymen teachers. They are competent, and will go the extra mile when necessary. But they dont have any special flair. While Id like to see my kids be taught by a master teacher, Im okay if they end up in journeymans class. Those teachers will get the job done...if the student is willing to learn.

I understand. Both my brother and my sister-in-law were teachers. I watched the slow leftward brainwashing that affected even them somewhat.
But no one can get to the goal without a good map. The map needs to lead toward the Declaration, the Constitution, and our American culture. We need to be in on the drawing of the map.

Agreed. If you win your seat, take a close look at the curriculum (of course). But also take a close look at whats being presented during the in-service days.
When I first started teaching, the in-service presentations were straightforward. If you were, say, a chemistry teacher, youd go to a presentation that would introduce you to new lab techniques.
But now these in-services are more like political indoctrinations. You are supposed to just sit there while some consultant lectures you about social issues.
Quick story: At one of these indoctrinations, the presenter started things out by telling each table to pick a name for themselves. The gym teachers all sat together. They called themselves The Coaches.
I sat with some conservative teacher friends. We called ourselves The Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy. The presenter was not amused. But we were.
By the way, this was at an inner-city high school. Im guessing that maybe 40% of the teachers were Ronald Reagan conservatives. I know that will surprise some people.
