I AM A CITIZEN, NOT A SUBJECT

Posted on 04/18/2020 8:21:02 AM PDT by 7thson

I thought I would share what recently happened to me. About 10 days ago, I come out of a liquor store and in the parking lot I met an individual I have not seen for about 10 years. He was not wearing a mask but was wearing the surgical gloves. We talked a little, caught up on our families. As we parted I said I was going to go out as much as I can. He said he was going to huddle at home. I replied, "Not me. I'm a citizen, not a subject." Then we parted ways.

Today my brother went to the Giant - we live in Maryland - without a mask on. He was immediately harassed by employees and customers, and even cursed at by customers. His reply to them was "I'm a citizen, not a subject."

I tell these two tales because I think we should reply to these socialists and sheep with "I'm a citizen, not a subject." Also, I am going to try to get a dusk mask and write on it in red ink "THIS IS THE FACE OF SOCIALISM." I think if we not only challenge the socialist sheep but also ridicule them, it would hurry up the reopening.

I’m pretty sure I mentioned everyone wearing masks many many times.

Studies have shown the particles can be in the air 13 feet from infected people. The 6 foot rule is a good practice, but with out masks it might be creating a false sense of safety.

Stores around here have lines outside to keep a minimum amount of people in. If your other wearing a mask the door monitor does not let you in. This too must eventually end.

WalMart is counting people in the store
________________________________________________

As of this past Wednesday, my local Walmart was not doing this. There are blue *stand here* markers at the checkout & sneeze guards for the cashiers, but no waiting, no aisle arrows, employees are not masked, most customers were not masked, people & workers talking in groups in the aisles and a generalized feeling of normalcy.

The same in a Festival Foods 2 counties away a week prior, plus a brisk business in prepared items.

In contrast, the local independent had masked and gloves cashiers, masked customers and almost no business. Yet, the independent was almost out of many items, while the Walmart and Festival were well-stocked.

‘If my employer tells me to remove people from the premises as part of my job, I’d assume I don’t need to be calling my boss every time someone shows up without a mask.’

well, in that situation, then your boss has already dealt with it; question is, would you do so on your own without the boss’ edict...?

Having worked in the hospital for over 27 years there is a reason we don’t allow homemade masks. They don’t work!

Using a homemade mask is like trying to catch minnows with a salmon net. You need at least an N-95 mask to be even minimally effective against something as small as a virus.

When a government or the lawyers for a business dictate that you need to wear a mask out of concern for the safety of your fellow citizens, how could they ever argue against Constitutionally Carrying a firearm out of concern for their safety as well?

I got beat up this morning here a little bit for saying I’d avoid going certain places if a mask were required.

Just wait until they require you to be vaccinated to go certain places.

You do make a very good point. If a citizen can be forced to do things to preserve the health of others, he certainly should not be prevented from doing something that could save lives.

I am convinced this insanely over-the-top over-reaction is in large part due to the ridiculous snowflake society that we (and our destructive media) have created.

The nature of the media coverage tells me all I need to know about this "pandemic."

I take everything the media says and invert it to get the truth, anyway. Plus, the over the top coverage tells me that there's another agenda at work here.

They could be spewing virus particles into the air every time they talk.

Or they could NOT be. Why presume they're infected?

I am convinced this insanely over-the-top over-reaction is in large part due to the ridiculous snowflake society that we (and our destructive media) have created. Safety First! (My ass). To a smaller part it is due to the terminal political conflict that infects our society...so everything today is turned (by that omnipresent media) into an end-of-the-world scenario as a means to get at Trump on behalf of the the communist insurgency.

Imagine these clowns when President Trump gets Reelected!

I am being responsible. And I don’t fear anything. I notice those being irresponsible, like you, always pull the Fear Card. I am being realistic. I understand that you feel silly wearing a mask. I am confident in myself and I don’t care what I look like in a mask or what people think. I am FAR from a leftist. It is you acting like one of the Leftist Supremacists.....only caring about yourself. And since what you selfishly do potentially affects me and mine, I will judge you. People like you concern me, “I’m going to do what I want because the government wants to subjugate me!” You seem to think that your rights are being taken away permanently. I laugh at that. Human-up and think of others for once.

Why take the chance?

Why are they taking the chance with other people’s lives?

The CDC has recommended face coverings in public.

Is it really so hard to accomodate that recommendation for a couple of months?

I think the shaming of people who don’t wear masks is a good thing. I wear a mask everytime I go out. Only about 20% in my area do. It needs to change, or we are going to be on lock down for a long time.

So you admit no law was broken, and you believe in mob violence like a good little Maoist.

Harassing and publicly dressing down a customer doesn’t seem the right way to protect the rights of a property owner who sells to the public.

Did the state issue rules on this matter? Was the customer in violation of state rules? Did the store have clear signs stating no mask no business? If the property owner in a food business to serve the public and wanted 100% customer compliance, one would think they would have masks for customers before they entered. Final note, I would bet that the real owners, who weren’t present, would neither support or encourage employees to even “help” other customers insult another customer in the manner described.

Is the Giant store providing masks and are they in sealed plastic so you know they may not have been worn?

“I think the shaming of people who don’t wear masks is a good thing.”

I don’t. At a minimum, it’s very disrespectful and unlikely to convince a person to be wise like you. Perhaps there is another more effective way to make them see the light? One attracts bees with honey, not vinegar.

The “fear card” is puerile attempt to shame anyone who doesn’t buy in to the “it’s all about me, I’m a patriot and a tough guy” schtick. The same folks who in past times were quick to criticize the “me, me, me” mentality. Ironic.
