I AM A CITIZEN, NOT A SUBJECT

Posted on 04/18/2020 8:21:02 AM PDT by 7thson

I thought I would share what recently happened to me. About 10 days ago, I come out of a liquor store and in the parking lot I met an individual I have not seen for about 10 years. He was not wearing a mask but was wearing the surgical gloves. We talked a little, caught up on our families. As we parted I said I was going to go out as much as I can. He said he was going to huddle at home. I replied, "Not me. I'm a citizen, not a subject." Then we parted ways.

Today my brother went to the Giant - we live in Maryland - without a mask on. He was immediately harassed by employees and customers, and even cursed at by customers. His reply to them was "I'm a citizen, not a subject."

I tell these two tales because I think we should reply to these socialists and sheep with "I'm a citizen, not a subject." Also, I am going to try to get a dusk mask and write on it in red ink "THIS IS THE FACE OF SOCIALISM." I think if we not only challenge the socialist sheep but also ridicule them, it would hurry up the reopening.

The purpose of the mask is to signal that you are sufficiently obedient.

I am pretty sure that those people would use their God-given brains to avoid risk/injury/death. What makes you think any of US would let ourselves be subjugated? This entire movement of “Open up and let the vulnerable go.” seems like a macho thing to me.

I suppose all these people in Ohio are selfish jerks?

Real citizens do care about the health and well-being of their fellow citizens. Perhaps you are just a selfish clod that lives among citizens.

Well said!

Please show me where I have cursed anyone. I’ll wait. Life IS risky, and God gave us brains to mitigate that risk. Do you walk across streets without looking for cars? Don’t let the MAN tell you what to do!

Pretty much.

You are far more likely to have cv. on your skin or gloves and then touch your face, rub your eye, wipe (pick) your nose etc...

My apologies. I did not mean to imply you called anyone a jerk. When I posted that FB link, I just clicked on the last reply made in this thread, which happened to be yours. I was referring to the Freeper who stated those not wearing masks were jerks. I did not mean you and I am sorry for having imply that.

I pick my nose in public and flick boogers on them, I like to see the scream like little girls.

I have also been in stores where a piece of plastic wrap was around the pinpad. Someone uses it, then another, then another, etc. I figure in order for it be effective, each time it is used, it would have to be remove by someone wearing gloves, discarded, and then another piece of wrap placed around the pinpad, by someone removing the old gloves, washing their hands, and then putting on new gloves. Am I correct?

Screw the wuflu. I’m Free. If someone has problem with that...screw you

I'm with you. If anyone wants to try to put a mask on me, they'd better off trying to take the Lone Ranger's mask off.

Then the matter is between the private business owner and the government, not between the customer and the private business owner.

As I said in an earlier post ... If my state's "face masks at all times" edict is enforced, I'm going to be doing my grocery shopping in a neighboring state 70+ miles away. And it doesn't matter to me if the local grocery store's management is doing this on its own, or under government orders.

P.S. -- I run my own business, and in March I had my best month since last fall. This is because I have been openly defying every stupid government order that was supposed to shut my business down.

You don’t have to break a statute to be inconsiderate of other people or a jerk.

The rights guaranteed by our Constitution were not established to protect only nice people. The "jerk" is just as entitled to his freedom as is anyone else (in fact, those rights were guaranteed for the "jerk" even moreso than the others, because he needs them more). Something you should hold especially dear, as you might be labeled in a surprising manner (to you) by many around here...

Real citizens do care about the health and well-being of their fellow citizens, and allow those other people to decide what defines their "health and well-being" (as opposed to forcing their narrow and ignorant definition of "well-being" on others, by excluding people's economic circumstances and focusing only on a minuscule chance of serious medical illness). Perhaps you are just a selfish clod that lives among citizens.

And I am a citizen who cares more for the health and economic well being of the Nation. I took an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic.

"I’m a citizen who understands social contract and cares about my fellow citizens defines "caring for others" according to what I deem best for them (in my arrogance), as opposed to letting them make that choice for themselves."

Fixed that for you...

A free society only works as long as there is a responsible citizenry.

“Giant is a private business establishment, and if they have rules for wearing masks inside their premises you have no business telling them otherwise.”

I would think that any business requiring shoppers to have something would have to provide that something. Not everybody has access to face masks.
