After too long of a delay, I've finally started grinding out the words behind the study I've done of .380 ACP rounds, and posted part one.
Yes, this is a bit of a blog pimping, but as I have no ads or monetization, one can hardly call it self-serving it's just that there's too many words to make a good forum post.
A short excerpt: ----- Our ideal round is not necessarily the same as the officers but there are many similarities. If were forced to shoot in self-defense (presuming our threat doesnt quit, run away, or hide) we very much need our action to stop the threat maybe more so, as we may not have an armed partner and government behind us. Accordingly, on ammunition sites and YouTube vloggers alike the barrier tests are usually not replicated, and youll find tests largely involving bare gel or denim/cloth/fleece heavy clothing (and the occasional bag of oranges). This set of articles uses the 12″-18″ FBI standard, not because the .380 ACP is a duty round, but because some objective standard is better than none. When making your own choice, keep in mind this is about personal defense, not duty.
...this study doesnt trust or distrust Shooting the Bull 410, Lucky Gunner, or any other author. It pulls together 330+ rounds from 12 different authors, 12 different firearms, and 29 different types of ammunition, all in .380 ACP. -----
Full article at https://www.wereratgames.com along with a prior bit I'd posted, which has nothing at all to do with arms but is a data science item about simulation racing.
Anyway enjoy, and I'm looking forward to cranking the rest of it out in intervals of less than a week each so this wordy intro doesn't get stale.
You really wrote a lot of words to say nothing.
Well the thread is about .380s, so...
Just do it right.
Ill keep my Colt Commander in .45 ACP thanks.

For her birthday present, my wife picked the S&W M&P Shield in 9mm. She tried several (mostly .380s) But when she gripped and aimed the Shield, she exclaimed, "That's it!"
Took it back to our range -- and the trigger pull was so hard, I honestly thought I'd left the safety on!
After several evenings of careful stoning and dry-fring it with 3M "Finesse-It" polishing compound on rough spots, it smoothed out, and lightened up -- and it now has a nice trigger pull.
It now shoots just fine, and I must admit that I enjoy shooting & carrying it -- even if doing so makes my HK P7 a mite jealous... '-)
Mine has an excellent trigger pull, 3 lbs?
Small and light, compact, positive safety.
Gavrilo Princip assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife with one shot each from a .380. Both died within minutes.
Anyone who considers it a “nothing gun” should volunteer to try being shot with it. Same goes for .25 ACP, for that matter.
I had a Colt Mustang. Fun gun, easily carried in a pants pocket.
Check out Paul Harrel’s channel on YouTube, it is excellent. Especially if you like meat targets and high tech fleece backstops.
Cool! This isnt caliber wars tho and somewhere in there (Mariners right, I wrote too much for an intro) is a paragraph stating that the duty calibers dont have a question about hitting the FBI spec.
This is about what does work for .380s for those who carry them as primary or BUG.
I vote both. The .380 conceals beautifully but is a little weak on stopping power. The .308 has better stopping power but doesn't fit in my pocket as well as I'd like.
I agree, I love my .380 (Ruger also).
My daughter carries a .380 as well after she Shot mine and fell in love with
the caliber. I don’t recall what brand she ended up buying, but it came with
a “hot pink” handle, and she used that as the tie-breaker with the two brands she tried out. (She is fashion conscious).
Take a look at the CZ2075 RAMI
Sig P-365 is the way to go.
Good plan. Here’s a pocket .308 if you ever need one:

...and the occasional bag of oranges... :)
Love the BDA!!
“Pardon the Shatneresque pauses...”
:)
That is silly. I would never buy one, but I like it!
Bought one today. Sweet little gun for $450
Dark by the time I got home, so couldn't fire it yet.
Thank you for the tip!
