An Ukrainian Airlines plane carrying 180 passengers and crew crashed tonight just minutes ago after takeoff from Tehran, Iran! This comes on the same night that Iran fired a dozen missiles at US bases in Iraq.
Al Hadath Dubai News reported a missile took down the Ukrainian flight.

Boy the reason is a real brain teaser.
Trump’s fault! Seriously, if this is ever proven to be true, the MSM and the left will pin this on Trump.
The missile went off accidentally when I was cleaning it.
What in the world did they hope to gain by this? They could not have done this in error since commercial aircraft all carry transponders as identification.
everybody thought it was true from the get go. Iranian geniuses were firing missiles and didn’t want to tip off anyone by telling air traffic.
“Seriously, if this is ever proven to be true, the MSM and the left will pin this on Trump.”
Really, that’s a bridge to far. Even a tinfoil hat conspiracy freak would have a problem with what amounts to “The Devil made me do it” claim.
Any VIPs on that plane?
A investigation more likely will find it was a spark in the empty center fuel tank that caused the loss of the aircraft.
lol
I told him not to press so hard!
A single radar guided missile with explosive warhead, eg the SA-15, could be expected to easily catch something like an airliner on climb out. It would guide to the biggest radar reflection- a wing or wing/fuselage area and proximity detonate as designed. This would mean the seeker would be relatively intact, not having impacted the target, and with the warhead shape charge configured to create an expanding annular ring of debris. This shrapnel would most likely perforate the wing and fuselage- puncturing fuel tanks, causing a fire, perhaps damaging an engine and/or control lines. While it is possible for something as big as a multi engine airliner to survive a single missile strike, it is also quite possible to lose the aircraft from a single hit. The commercial aircraft would lack self sealing fuel tanks, lumbering into the air it wasn't evading so the missile would be able to get very close at detonation causing maximum damage...
I am shocked, I tell you, SHOCKED!!!!!! /s
One needs to be a first- or second-world society to understand this.
Islam has them stuck in the 8th century as a third-world nation.
I agree with your comments.
I am curious as to what altitude the plane was when/if the missile detonated.
100’, 500’ 5000’? How long after take off etc.
Might help determine the type of missile, if there was one.
As to the AC having a transponder, unless someone had the equipment to receive that information, at any distance, there would be no way to know if it was military or civilian.
And I wouldn’t expect the average RPG carrying goat herder to know the difference.
reportedly it had made it to roughly 7000’ ASL. No sure altitude above ground.
RADAR guided makes sense.
Where was the plane headed?
Were Iranian government official’s families on it to escape the possible turmoil?
Exactly - I would tend to think it was either a mistake by one of their folks having a pucker moment - or a deliberate sabotage by a Soleimani supporter who wants a war - makes no sense at all as a sanctioned action.

The Iranian air defense people screwed up is the likely explanation. They panicked in the middle of Irans attacks.
Tehran is about 4000', so it was well within range of any MANPAD.
