Giving up your vices and guilty pleasures can lead to a happier and healthier life thats full of purpose. Even though you might not see the changes day-to-day when you give up drinking alcohol, theyre very apparent to others. One of the things that can keep you motivated is documenting the changes and looking at the photos side by side.
Well, one man has made the phrase one day at a time fit both his fight with alcoholism and documenting his journey through sobriety. These last three years, Kenny D. has taken snaps of how he looked when he quit alcohol at key stages in his journey of sobriety. The changes within the first month are already huge and he is almost unrecognizable in the final pictures.
me either, I’m a glass of wine with a meal, and half a shot of Scotch for dessert guy, haven’t been drunk in 15 years.
I had a now ex-girlfriend who was an party girl alcoholic. Everything we did revolved around some sort of upcoming party. I was coming out of a divorce and it was fun for a while and then I decided I was nothing more than her designated driver and baby sitter. I finally dumped her in July 2007 and I because of that experience I rarely drink anything anymore than 1/2 case of beer a year and a couple glasses of wine.
Well yeh he was a raging alchoholic. No wonder he felt sick. Its probably a really good thing he stopped. Glad to hear it. I’ll still probably drink a couple of glasses of good cab tonight and feel fine tomorrow.
What a difference a smile makes. Plus diet and exercise. All still possible while enjoying a drink.
I dunno...but that comment..seems like you be a drinking....

So...you’re 35?
Is 35 when it hits?
I actually dread social events that more-or-less require drinking.
Meh; that’s what screen names are for.
Jim Robinson knows who I am because I cut a check once a year, but I doubt he cares.
Quit when my kids were young...didn't drink for 20 years or so..
Started again...some beers now and again...
Drank "near beer" for awhile....Now I drink "real beer"...Ha!!
Amen to that. On my 11th yr (again!). The monkey is never “ off your back”, but at least it sits on the couch once in a while.
My friend and I have nicknamed another regular at our gym “Pickles”.
Dude is beet red 100% of the time and we’ve seen him throw down at local events but sure enough, somehow he’s in the gym every morning including Saturday. He’s probably around 50 and is very fit.
I feel sorry for people that don't drink, because when they wake up in the morning, that is the best they are going to feel all day.-- Francis Albert Sinatra

Well said. When someone senses that alcohol is becoming a serious problem, they should stop. If it's not a problem, then enjoy!
In my case, it was a big problem, and I was unable to live the kind of life I wanted as long as I drank. Cutting back, or moderating was not effective. I had to stop altogether.
As one old timer put it...it takes eternal vigilance.....
Congrats on getting back in one piece...I’ve watched too many good folks end up dead or in jail over the years.
