Wendy's Packs A Southern Punch with The Carolina Classic Burger
Franchising ^ | October 17, 2019

Posted on 10/20/2019 3:04:36 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

his week Wendy's is bringing its beloved Carolina Classic Burger to all restaurant menus across North and South Carolina. To pay homage to some of the best flavors of the South, this regional twist on a classic Wendy's burger is back by popular demand – but only for a limited time.

Featuring zesty chili, diced onions, mustard and tangy cole slaw topped on a Wendy's quarter pound fresh, never frozen beef patty*, customers can get it all with the Carolina Classic. Previously sold in Charlotte-area restaurants, this flavor-filled burger is now expanding to the rest of the state and throughout South Carolina for all to enjoy.

"The Carolinas are known for bold and flavorful food, which has always been the inspiration for our Carolina Classic burger," says Carolina Restaurant Group's Director of Marketing Kathy Alvis. "It's been a crowd favorite for years, so we're excited to bring this flavor combo to more Wendy's fans throughout the rest of the region this fall."

For convenience, the Carolina Classic Burger is available at participating Carolina Wendy's locations, through mobile ordering in the Wendy's app and is eligible for delivery using DoorDash. This burger was created to hit the spot, all the spots, so be sure to stop in and grab one before they're gone.

Rather have a Hardee’s, but Wendys is better than Clown and the King...

Sounds like instant indigestion.

But then I gave up fast food decades ago because of that issue.

“Just about all the burger places have gone downhill. ... The first one I ever had was McDonald’s in Ft. Walton around 1961.”

Agree that burger places went downhill. Aside from loaf-breaded hamburger sandwiches at home, my first burger was at a Little Tavern in Alexandria, Virginia. Their sliders sold fresh off the griddle for a nickel a shot.

Then about that same time, the downhill slide began as Mc’s Rainbow Lounge opened their first two locations in the area. Despite gosh knows how many rehabs, those locations still operate under Golden Arches. Long forgotten which outlet opened first.

Strange as it may seem - or perhaps it’s my savaged taste buds - but a true slider - sans cooked in onions - may still be found at Sheets gas stations.

In Star Trek IV The Voyage Home, the U.S.S. Enterprise CVN-65 was actually the U.S.S. Ranger CV-61.

Chekov: [to a policeman] Excuse me, sir! Can you direct us to the naval base in Alameda? It’s where they keep the nuclear wessels.
Chekov: *Nuclear wessels*.

snip

Chekov: Please, please - We’re looking for the naval base in Alameda can you tell us where the nuclear wessels are?
Random Passerby: Oh, I don’t know if I know the answer to that. I think it’s across the Bay. In Alameda!
Chekov: That’s what I said - Alameda, I know that.
Cmdr. Uhura: But where is Alameda?

snip

Chekov: Admiral. We have found the nuclear wessel.
Kirk: Well done, Team two.
Chekov: And Admiral... it is the *Enterprise*.
Kirk: Understood.

I have had coleslaw on hot dogs. Pretty good. Doesn’t sound like it would go well with a hamburger but who knows.

Yeah I tried it. A southern burger originating in Cincinnati. It wasn’t good.

Yeah, that one’s not going to be a one hander. Sort of the opposite of a McDonalds cheeseburger which you can safely eat while driving a stick shift in traffic.

Their Big Macs come close; probably because they come in a box, instead of being smooshed together in paper wrappings. I eat one or two a year, when I get desperate.

When I moved south, I made the mistake of ordering a burger with the works at a local restaurant. The mustard was applied with a trowel. I couldn’t scrape off enough of it to make it edible.

To have fun, walk up to the order counter and ask if they are a “Participating Location”.

If there's a Showmar's Restaurant near anyone, try their Old-Fashioned Chili Pita Burger (on pita or bun, single or double patty)...same ingredients plus cheese...chili, onions, slaw, mustard. Bigger burger, more expensive...but great. Of course, I'd eat a Wendy's Carolina Classic in a second.
