Hi, everyone.
My computer has something called Cortana on it, and it constantly pops up and insists on trying to "help" me. (Like the government.)
Does anyone know how I can disable it?
“I want an operating system like Win 7 and with upgrades for seamless media. I want a mail handler like outlook 2003. I want a Word proccesser like Word 2003. Actually something like the 2003 whole office package on a win 7 with media upgrades works for me.”
Two years ago I gave my Windows 10 laptop with Office 365 to my husband for his astronomy photography. I bought a refurbished Windows 7 on Amazon, which had 2T added to it, and has (knock on wood) been wonderful, fast, and dependable.
I have original CDs of the old MS Office 2003 — Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and all tools. The CDs live in our safety deposit box, and when we relocate they’re in my carry-on luggage. IF I knew how you could find this, I’d let you know since I feel your pain. All versions after 2003 are not user friendly (IMHO). Fie on “the ribbon”!
I guess Windows 7 will no longer receive upgrades in a few months, but it’s still happening for now. And long ago MS stopped supporting Office 2003 so if I’m looking for a certain template for a project, “that page no longer exists”.
It’s Clippy in drag!..........................
Yo do need some free hard drive space for this.
Then, when you boot up to linux, you can still access all your files on the windows side from the file manager(explorer). Most files will be usable on linux. Images, office docs etc.
The linux install program will resize windows and create another partition for linux to be installed on.
Doesn't hurt to run Disk Defragmenter on the windows side before doing this.
Naturally, the top option would be checked off. I just couldn't find an image with that
You know that chick that used to dance a lot
Every night she'd be on the floor, shakin' what she got
When I say she was cool she was red hot
I mean, she was steamin'
And that time over at Johnny's place,
Well, this chick got up and she slapped Johnny's face
Man, we just fell about the place
If that chick
don't want
to know
for... get...
her
and the actress that plays Cortana
Thank you!
I think the on-off switch is somewhere in settings.
It is if you cant figure out how to turn off Cortina.
#/bin/bash
# this script helps you look like you do hackerish stuff
if [ “$EUID” -ne 0 ]
then
echo “Please run as root to be hackerish.”
exit
fi
# turn off globbing
set -f
# split on newlines only for for loops
IFS=’
‘
for log in $(find /var/log -type f); do
# only use the log if it’s a text file; we _will_ encounter some archived logs
if [ `file $log | grep -e text | wc -l` -ne 0 ]
then
echo $log
for line in $(cat $log); do
echo $line
# sleep for a random duration between 0 and 1/4 seconds to indicate hard hackerish work
bc -l <<< $(bc <<< “$RANDOM % 10”)” / 40” | xargs sleep
done
fi
done
I feel youre pain friend. We bought a new system and it came with Microsoft Parasite 10. I thought Id keep it for the wife and kids. As time went on one thing after another has been a problem. I shouldnt have to disable half an operating system to make it properly functional.
BookMarking (disable Cortana)
I just ignored it when it happened on my old machine. It’s probably a Democrat, anyway, so worth ignoring.
Daisy, daisy, give me your answer, do . . .
Tell that to Einstein. That frizzy-haired booger was apparently a womanizer/chick magnet.
They look like a cross between Opus and Bill the Cat.
> turnoff Cortana
> turnoff: No such command
> sudo turnoff Cortana
> Cortana disabled
I heard he had the best coke.
Does anyone know how I can disable it?
Put a bullet through your hard drive.
