FBI Investigating Antifa For Plotting To Buy Guns From Cartel For ‘Armed Rebellion’
Daily Caller ^

The FBI is investigating anti-fascist activists for an alleged plot to buy guns from a Mexican cartel in order to “stage an armed rebellion” at the southern border, according to an unclassified document obtained by The Chicago Tribune.

The FBI document, from December of 2018, warns of militant antifa activists planning to “disrupt security operations” at the U.S.-Mexico border. The group allegedly planned to buy guns from a Mexican cartel associate known as Cobra Commander, in order to “stage an armed rebellion at the border.”

The source who provided it to the San Diego Tribune asked the outlet not to publish the six-page document because the investigation is ongoing, and the outlet cited two additional law enforcement officials who confirmed the news. The FBI has warned dozens of law enforcement agencies in both Mexico and the United States of the alleged plot.

Two of the men named in the report told the San Diego Tribune the allegations are absurd.

“It doesn’t make any sense that someone from the United States would purchase guns in Mexico,” Ivan Reibeling, the man known as Cobra Commander, told the outlet. “And the Hondurans certainly didn’t bring money to buy guns. It doesn’t make any sense; in fact it’s extremely absurd to say the Hondurans wanted to attack the United States at the border.

The findings here seem to support this;
The Mexican border has always been contentious and there have been frequent armed interchanges with Mexican Armed forces along with bandits and smugglers.

In the hundreds of postings here in Free Republic rarely is this brought up. It’s Known As Reciprocity. We should be treating anybody illegally crossing the Mexican border into the US the way the Mexican’s do treat any American illegally doing the same.crossing into Mexico. Entry denied fined and possible imprisonment then kicked out.

It’s time we consider illegal entry by any person who is a non Mexican citizen illegally entering the United States through the US Mexican border a defacto Mexican citizen with limited Mexican constitutional rights subject to their laws while transiting. As well as any Mexican citizen entering illegally exempting those who do so legally and meet US citizenship requirements.

Democrats with their open border jingo bingo should not be allowed to allow to pervert the concept of sovereignty get twisted into being propagandized as “White Nationalism”. Use of that term is usually directed when the immigration issue is brought up to devalue of the protections an American citizen have by being one.

By allowing the hordes illegally entering the US through the Mexican border avoid recognizing and dealing with the 2nd class treatment that American citizens get while legally residing in Mexico which not just includes denial of voting privileges but employment, and land ownership in their name.

All of which when given to illegals and property ownership by them is used in territory of states which Mexico reclaims as theirs claims which we have been ignoring but could be problematical should any reclaiming effort by regime changes in Mexico arise , Our border with Mexico has always been contentious. Those barriers are a must

.According to the Mexican constitution Americans legally in Mexico Besides being unable to vote one must also be a citizen to own land and Mexico is very restrictive about granting citizenship. Because of that a US citizen besides not being able to vote, and cannot have title in their name to any land property in Mexico.

And until that is changed the US and the affected state should consider making that reciprocal. Prohibiting any illegal entrant employment, voting, and land ownership privileges fully enforced .In other words Sneak into this country before expulsion no job no voting no landowning ..

I wonder if the "antifa" tattoo expands with the size of his belly.

“It doesn’t make any sense that someone from the United States would purchase guns in Mexico,” Ivan Reibeling, the man known as Cobra Commander, told the outlet.

Maybe the buyer wanted to avoid paying local sales tax?

Also: Always believe someone known as "Cobra Commander."

They don’t have to buy firearms in Mexico to be buying from cartel...cartels have thriving operations in US. They could buy firearms in Mexico though...money talks. Cartels have no issue being armed.

I had hoped that my remark about "avoiding sales tax" would have made it apparent that I was not trying to formulate a cogent argument, but was instead just going for a cheap joke.

I know nothing about illegally buying arms from foreign paramilitary organizations or drug cartels.

Though I am considering stealing the moniker "Cobra Commander."

Oh I knew you were joking... was responding toward the idiot in the article that said it was “absurd”...no clue joker. I should have posted to post #1. I had a long day and was not paying attention.

Cobra Commander is very catchy...if I met someone calling themselves that I would think- hello undercover FBI Agent.

A better bet is the *FBI* sold them the guns.

Probably just put them in contact with somebody who said they would sell them guns - then busted the participants for conspiracy after they bit on the sting. That "Cobra Commander" fellow might be telling a carefully parsed truth. What was omitted is more important than what was said.

I would doubt that any guns were actually delivered or even available. But there is not much information in that story.

I thought FBI investigations were secret, so why is this being published? Is this a heads up to warn them?

If this were true, it would be one of those singularly interesting events that one sees so rarely these days.
