[Vanity] Which is better, D.C. or Marvel Comics?
EEE | 16 MARCH 2019 | EEE

My daughter loves the Marvel Universe, but I grew up with D.C. comics. I remember in the 70s watching the old "SuperFriends" cartoons as a kid. I've always thought D.C. had better heroes. But I have to admit Marvel has the better movies and storylines.

Which do you prefer?

All my life I’ve been DC. I respect Stan Lee, but I believe in my gut that he is built on his own hype. I cannot help believing the truth as I see it.

“Do you want to start a food fight? Because this is how you start a food fight.”

Heh. I’ve always thought of the DC/marvel divide as more less being one of “kids who just want to be entertained” (DC) and “slightly older kids with issues and some unique acne problems.” (Marvel)
I was pretty much in the former camp with occasional forays into other comics publishers, e.g. American Comics Group for “Herbie”.

During the 2nd half of the 1960s, the DC characters were boring adults. The Marvel characters were much more teen-aged with lots of emotions and hormones, and moodiness. The Marvel heroes were more entertaining.

I think you hit the nail on the head. A hero is a hero. I despise a pansy bottom angist driven issues. Hulk was the lamest character I had ever seen. Emotions, hormones, and moodiness is the last thing I think of for entertainment. Marvel? No.

From 1967 to 1973, I collected comics. It was 5 to 1....DC over Marvel. Just about everything that DC published, I bought. Marvel? I stuck mostly with Captain America, Avengers, and Spiderman. The collection still sits there today.

Marvel has been full on NPC SJW garbage for a decade now. DC is just starting to fully commit to being full on NPC SJW garbage now. Pick your poison.

In the 50’s and 60’s both were excellent. Today, I have no idea but from what I’ve read here at FR, they are a shadow of themselves, ruined by Political Correctness, anti-white bias, and sheer stupidity.

Neither. They have both succumb to leftist ideology just like most other print media.

I prefer Bronze Age DC with a side order of Carl Barks duck comics.

35 years ago I would have said Marvel.
I no longer buy/collect comics.

The only modern title I read now is the Punisher. I collect a lot of Marvel from the 70s and 80s. I think Marvel was better back in the day.

Silver Age and older, either.

Both suck now.

Carl Barks duck comics

Seconded. Entertaining, often a moral inside and some great history too.

American Comics Group - they had some good titles, like Forbidden Worlds and Adventures Into the Unknown (I think Herbie started in one of those books, actually). That company had an office in this area for a couple of years, but it seemed like they bounced around a good bit.
